The actress, 66, have given her views on the likelihood of a reunion

Birds of a Feather was the classic British sitcom that ran throughout the 1990s but has returned to screens infrequently in the years since.

While there have been no updates on any new episodes in years, fans of the show continue to hold out hope for more.

Unfortunately, one of the comedy’s leading ladies Linda Robson has reiterated how unlikely a new episode is following reports of a feud between herself and co-star Pauline Quirke.

After a long hiatus, the comedy made a comeback in 2014 for a couple of series, much to the delight of long-term viewers while the latest instalment came in the form of a 2020 Christmas Special.

Robson, 66, has remained in the public eye in the years after the programme’s success, but Quirke, 64, has stepped down from the limelight and didn’t feature in the latest special four years ago.

Rumours have spiralled about a “feud” between the two, which Robson has always strongly denied. The Loose Women star has insisted she and Quirke, along with their co-star Lesley Joseph, remain close.

When asked recently about the possibility of another onscreen reunion of the trio, she explained: “No, Pauline doesn't act anymore.”

Speaking to Women’s Own, she continued: "Yeah. We have so much history together, me and Pauline have been best friends since we were 10 years old.

“Lesley I've known since the first series of Birds of a Feather. Pauline doesn't like all the social events but me and Lesley love that.

“Pauline hates live TV as well, she'll only ever come on Loose Women if I am on there because she feels safe then."

The actress went on to confess Quirke didn’t like the idea of the live Birds of a Feather tour and became anxious about performing.

Robson has been upfront in the past about her disappointment in her co-star’s change of heart, previously stating: “I'm not going to lie and say Lesley and I weren't disappointed.

"Of course we were. We were gutted and we couldn't imagine going on without her. We were a trio – how could it possibly work without any one of us?

“But at the same time as all that sadness, there was acceptance and understanding, too.”

She also described speculation of a clash between the pair as "bulls***".

While a reunion of the beloved series hasn't yet come to fruition, Channel 5 aired a programme last year dedicated to the comedy.

Birds of a Feather – 30 Years of Laughter, saw cast, crew and fans discussing their love for the programme.

Narrated by Stephen Mangan, the programme featured interviews from Robson and Joseph.
