Strictly Come Dancing is currently celebrating a landmark year after making its debut on screens 20 years ago.

In that time, famous faces from across the entertainment world have taken to the dancefloor, each hoping to be crowned winner or just to enjoy the chance to dazzle on the glitzy show. However, some have rejected their offer of appearing on the BBC competition.

This year's show was shrouded in some anticipation thanks to the controversy that stemmed from last year's series.

A BBC probe into the programme was launched after actress Amanda Abbington accused dancer Giovanni Pernice of "abusive" behaviour.

Six of Abbington's 17 complaints against Pernice were upheld, with Pernice breaking his silence earlier this week during a TV interview.

Kim Woodburn, 82, is no stranger to reality TV, having infamously starred on Celebrity Big Brother in 2017. She also starred in the 2009 edition of ITV's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

However, while speaking exclusively to GB News on behalf of WhichBingo, she detailed why she turned down an offer to appear on Strictly.

"I was offered," she explained. "My agent was called for me to do the Strictly Come Dancing, but I've got two left feet.

"I can't dance now, dear, five foot 10, 12 stone. Who the hell's going to throw me, where am I going to land? I've got two left feet."

Expressing her thoughts on the show, she continued: "They look lovely, I mean, I admire people that do it, you know, same for Dancing on Ice, but it's not for me.

"And definitely not now - I'm 82! Oh, flaming nora. They look amazing for it, though."

Opening up on her Celebrity Big Brother stint, which unfortunately saw her clashing with several housemates, she candidly stated: "I was totally picked on.

"I'm going to say this to you now. I could not personally join a gang. I'm not a gang person.

"If I saw somebody being picked on by many people, I would say, 'stop it.' It's cowardly when gangs pick on people and if I see gangs picking on somebody I'll stop it.

"So they're cowardly, shocking people. And I was very sad that people could be so horrible."

The former How Clean is Your House star added: "But you know, they said, 'Why did you go in?'

"Well, it pays a shedload of money! I've had very poor days. I was born to a family in the war.

"We were poor, like everybody else, a bit of toast for your breakfast - and I was offered a gargantuan amount of money for this.

"I wasn't going to walk out and lose the money for those people."

She also touched on the idea of rebooting classic Channel 4 series How Clean Is Your House, explaining: "Remember, I was 61 you know."
