Kelly Osbourne has come under fire on social media for branding a controversial weight loss drug “amazing”.
The 39-year-old’s remarks about Ozempic, a Type 2 diabetes medication which has been increasingly used in Hollywood for weight loss, has infuriated members of the public, many of whom have labelled her “selfish”.
The use of Ozempic has been met with some backlash lately as the injections are supposed to be to aid Type 2 diabetes, but celebrities’ use of it for cosmetic reasons means supplies for those who need it for medical use are running low.
Despite this leading to warnings from health professions, Osbourne praised the use of the drug for dropping a few dress sizes.
Speaking last month at Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala, she commented: “I think it’s amazing,” when discussing Ozempic.
According to E! News, she added: “There are a million ways to lose weight, why not do it through something [that] isn’t as boring as working out?”

On the controversy surrounding the drug, she went on: “People hate on it because they want to do it.
“And the people who hate on it the most are the people who are secretly doing it or pissed off that they can’t afford it.
“Unfortunately, right now it’s something that is very expensive but it eventually won’t be because it actually works.”
However, her comments have led to furious social media users to blast her online for the remarks.

Taking to social media, one argued: “Rich ppl have easy access to healthy food options, personal trainers and chefs but they choose to take ozempic that’s not meant for them and causing shortages for those who truly need them.”
A second fumed: “Kelly you just don’t know when to stop running your mouth," while another penned: "Kelly Osbourne is nothing but an ignorant and entitled brat."
"Kelly osbourne is up there as one of like theee most out of touch persons," a fourth remarked.
“Diabetics can’t get life saving treatment but Kelly Osbourne is putting it down to hating and being broke,” someone else pointed out.

The media personality isn't the only one in her famous family to be supporting use of the drug.
Her mother, Sharon, 71, has also talked about using Ozempic and opened up on the difficulties she experiences using it. She told The Daily Mail last year she now struggles to put on weight, explaining: "I'm too gaunt and I can't put any weight on."
