The Teenage Dream singer has taken to Instagram with an update for her 205 million followers
Katy Perry has come under fire from some of her social media followers for her latest Instagram post.
Fans had been keen to hear from the singer ever since allegations of sexual assault from four women were made against her ex-husband Russell Brand as part of a Dispatches, The Times and Sunday Times joint investigation.
Brand said in a video to his YouTube channel - on which he is now banned from making money - that he denied the “very serious criminal allegations” about his personal life.
The allegations span from 2006 to 2013 with one of the women accusers aged 16 at the time the alleged incidents took place.
Brand has been dropped by his agency and publisher while women's charities have cut ties with the comedian and the BBC has announced plans to launch a review into his time working with the broadcaster.
Perry was married to the 48-year-old for just under two years between 2010 and 2012 and is now engaged to actor Orlando Bloom.
Since the allegations came to light, a number of people in the spotlight have made their stance on the allegations clear - including GB News presenters Bev Turner and Andrew Pierce after their now-famous on-air debate.
But Perry has decided to avoid mentioning the allegations against her ex after she broke her silence on social media on Tuesday for the first time since the Dispatches episode aired on Channel 4 over the weekend.
Instead, Perry decided to share a series of snaps of herself modelling items of clothing she'd designed for her own brand.
"Scootin n bootin," the I Kissed A Girl singer captioned the post, avoiding any mention or reference to the allegations facing Brand.
While a majority of her followers were quick to praise Perry's appearance and the items of clothing on show, some took issue with her failing to speak out about Brand.
"What about Russell brand?" one follower probed while a second added: "I wonder what she's making of all the Russell brand news."
A third slammed the singer, however, as they raged: "When your ex husband is accused of multiple rapes, one being during your relationship, but you’re too much of a selfish little girl to speak up and say something to support or deny the claims.
"That’s embarrassing, when I was 6 I use to look up to you, but now I know the truth," the furious follower added. "You’re like every other celebrity, you don’t care who gets hurt, as long as you stay relevant and get your check."

However, a number of Perry's fans were quick to rush to the singer's defence, with one hitting back: "I don’t think you understand how stupid this comment sounds."
And a second slamming the social media user's rant: "Calm down Karen."
Perry and Brand met while the actor was filming the comedy film Get Him to the Greek.
One of the women who alleged Brand raped them claims the incident occurred in July 2012, close to the time he and Perry divorced.
