The professional dancer pairing called time on their romance ahead of the new series

Kai Widdrington has seemingly thrown his support behind ex-girlfriend Nadiya Bychkova after she took to social media to share a series of cryptic posts about parenting alone.

The BBC Strictly pair began dating back in 2022 but sources said they decided to end their romantic relationship this year as the pressures of touring and working together took their toll.

The pair never had any children and Bychkova is already the mother to daughter Milo whom she shared with former partner and Slovenian football, Matija Skarabot.

With Widdrington no longer in the picture and as the pair gear up for their return to the Strictly ballroom in a matter of weeks, Bychkova has been juggling rehearsals with being a single mum.

And in recent days, she's shared a handful of defiant posts on social media about solo parenting and the "hard work" it takes to do so.

For instance, on her Instagram stories over the weekend, Bychkova shared a quote which read: "As a single mom I work hard because I simply can't afford not to.

"I have no to fall back on. I am the back-up plan."

A few days earlier, Bychkova's daughter made a rare appearance on her social media page as the pro dancer celebrated a recent sun-soaked getaway with her child.

"Grateful for these precious moments [prayer emoji]," she penned alongside a series of holiday snaps. "Take that flight, make memories, take pictures, eat that ice cream and treasure the little things. Blessed."

Despite no longer being there to enjoy these memorable moments with Bychkova and her daughter, Widdrington appeared to show that there was no bad blood between them.

The pro dancer gave his ex's post with her daughter a like despite the duo no longer being an item.

Several other Strictly stars similarly showed their support for Bychkova by liking the post, including Luba Musthuk, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Vito Coppola, Janette Manrara, Tess Daly, Dianne Buswell and Aljaz Skorjanec.

And fans similarly gushed over the update, including one who replied: "Oh I love this, two beautiful humans, hope you had an amazing time away together."

A second encouraged: "Enjoy your special time together, especially before school and work come back into daily life."

While Bychkova hasn't let the Widdrington split stand in the way of her return to the Strictly ballroom, it has been reported that the duo are struggling to get along.

Despite Widdrington showing his support on Bychkova's parenting post, sources have claimed the duo can't "be in the same room" ahead of Strictly's start date.

They had been scheduled to host a Strictly-themed event at a five-star resort earlier this month by Bychkova was replaced at the last minute.

Explaining why, a source claimed to The Sun: "Nadiya is really angry at Kai. She doesn't want to be in the same room as him. They have had a huge fallout and things are bad between them.

"There is a whole series to get through of dancing on the same show. The Strictly team are bracing themselves for this nightmare now."

As it stands, both pros will be part of the 2024 series but their celebrity partners' idenitities remain under wraps for now.
