John Goodman has suffered a hip injury whilst filming a new Tom Cruise movie at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

The 72-year-old actor reportedly slipped whilst blocking a scene on the set of the untitled film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Production was halted for two days following the incident, with Goodman receiving immediate medical attention.

A spokesperson for the production confirmed the injury had caused "a brief delay in shooting" to allow the veteran actor time to recover.

According to Deadline, Goodman was taken to the hospital after the incident occurred last week.

Sources told the publication that the injury was relatively "minor" despite requiring medical treatment.

The Warner Bros Pictures spokesperson said: "The production resumes shooting next week following John's full recovery."

The actor, known for roles in The Big Lebowski and The Righteous Gemstones, is expected to return to the set on Monday.

The incident was first reported by The Sun, which claimed the accident was causing "costly delays" to the production.

The film, which has the working title "Judy", is González Iñárritu's first English-language project since his Oscar-winning 2015 film The Revenant.

According to IMDB, Cruise, 62, stars as "the most powerful man in the world" who "embarks on a mission to prove that he is the saviour of humanity" after causing a major disaster.

The Mexican filmmaker wrote the script in 2023 alongside his Birdman co-writers Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, plus Sabina Berman.

Plot details remain largely under wraps.

The film also stars Jesse Plemons, Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Sophie Wilde.

Specific details about Goodman's role in the production have not been disclosed.

The Emmy and Golden Globe winner is also set to appear in the fourth season of HBO's The Righteous Gemstones, which debuts today.

The film began production late last year at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

Warner Bros. currently has the project scheduled for release in October 2026.

It marks Cruise's first film with Warner Bros Discovery since he signed a deal to develop and produce films with the studio in January 2024.
