Many liberal American stars have shared their upset and disappointment over Donald Trump winning the US Election
Jimmy Kimmel broke down in tears during his show on Wednesday evening and issued a nine-minute monologue sharing his hurt and sadness at Donald Trump’s win against Kamala Harris.
After months of campaigning and urging US citizens to go and vote during the election, Trump was re-elected back into the White House for the second time.
Stars such as Bette Midler, Ariana Grande, Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers have publicly expressed their disappointment over the election results – with many others deleting their X accounts in protest.
Chat show host Kimmel used his show – Jimmy Kimmel Live! - to air his grievances towards Trump and those who voted for him to return as president.
Before walking out in front of the audience, a skit was played where Kimmel was seen packing his bags and claiming he was leaving the country due to Trump’s election victory.
He claimed that Trump had a “list of enemies” and assumed that he would have been a name on that list.

Walking out and kicking off his speech, Kimmel said: “I hope you're all well. I spent a lot of time over the last 17 hours thinking about what I would say tonight.
“What there even is to say tonight and there is nothing. Goodnight everybody,” he teased.
He went on to claim that the choice for US President came down to a prosecutor and a criminal, "and we chose the criminal".
“More than half of this country voted for the criminal who’s planning to pardon himself for his crimes. I guess this election wasn’t rigged.”

Speaking about the wider reaction of his family, Kimmel revealed: “My kids were very upset. Every once in a while when something bad happens, we let our kids curse for 30 seconds.
“We tell them they have 30 seconds to say anything, any word they want and all the words they choose are curses,” revealing his son took full advantage of his new freedom.
Joking aside, Kimmel turned to the serious points of his speech and how he felt, expressing: “Let’s be honest. It was a terrible night last night, it was a terrible night for women, for children.
“For hundreds and thousands of hardworking immigrants who make this country go...” he continued, prompting the star to get choked up.
Feeling the full support of the audience to continue, Kimmel added: "For healthcare, for our climate, for science, for journalism, for justice, for free speech.
"It was a terrible night for poor people, the middle class, seniors who rely on social security, our allies in Ukraine, for NATO.

“For democracy and decency. And you know it was a terrible night for those who voted against him. Guess what, it was a bad night for everyone who voted for him too, you just don’t realise it yet.
"The people voted and this is the choice we made. In January, Donald Trump becomes President and that is sad, he won.
“It doesn’t mean we give up, but it also doesn’t mean we storm the Capitol because we don’t like the result.”
He ended his monologue by sharing the news that Trump will not be able to run for president during the next election in 2028, leaving the audience to erupt into cheers.
