The Former Grand Tour star opened his pub The Farmers Dog back in August

Jeremy Clarkson has issued a concerning warning to all pub owners across the country as he admitted to committing an erroneous decision when installing a new oven in his pub - The Farmer's Dog.

Alongside his farm - Diddly Squat - and the shop which runs alongside it, Clarkson took on another venture when opening his pub alongside a miniature off-licence, butcher's, and a food truck - named the Farmer's Puppy.

Hundreds of people queued for hours to be among the first customers at the new pub - where Clarkson also serves his own cider, Hawkstone - on its first day of trading.

However, the star recently gave an update on how the pub has been running since its grand opening, leaving Clarkson to admit one big mistake he has made.

Taking to his X account, he penned: "Publicans. When installing a new oven, ensure it’s not positioned under a smoke detector. Or you will end up spoiling the dining experience for your customers."

Giving their advice underneath the post, one fan commented: "If it is hard-wired, which I suspect it will be, you can change the actual detector to one that will distinguish between cooking smoke and actual fire.

"I’m not 100% what they are called but I had a similar issue in one of my restaurants and had the contractor change it."

"Change it for a heat detector," another advised before a third said: "FYI kitchens don’t typically have smoke detectors they have heat detectors."

Others teased Clarkson for the oversight, as a fourth fan penned: "Noted. Not that I plan on opening a pub anytime soon."

"Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks," another teased before a sixth expressed: "Learning as you go - the best way IMO."

This isn't the first issue that Clarkson has encountered with the pub since its opening, as it was the victim of online scammers, leaving the 64-year-old to issue a warning on the pub's Instagram page.

The Farmer's Dog official page posted a screenshot of a Facebook post that was impersonating the pub and captioned: "There is a FAKE FB page impersonating us and running giveaways. Please block and report it. Our official FB page is The Farmers Dog Pub."

The words "FAKE PAGE" were written elsewhere on the screenshot while the fake page in question disguised itself to social media users with the description: "The Farmers Dog Pub Owned and Run by Jeremy Clarkson."

At the time of the scam warning, the page had accumulated 671 likes and over 1,000 followers.

There was also another Instagram account under the handle @thefarmerdogpub too which isn't affiliated with Clarkson and co - it has 6,668 followers.

GB News attended the opening of the pub to speak exclusively with Clarkson about the impact The Farmer's Dog will have on British farmers given he's pledged to only use British produce.

"A tiny pinprint. But if everybody does it... I keep thinking if farmers get together - because you can buy a pub for chicken feed these days - get together and they share the workload it might work. I'll let you know in a year."
