Jeremy Clarkson has opened up on a harrowing experience he, Lisa Hogan and the Amazon film crew paid witness to while filming the latest series of Clarkson's Farm.
Over the first two series, fans got to see firsthand the trials and tribulations Clarkson faced at his Oxfordshire farm after he introduced cows and sheep to Diddly Squat.
In season three, Clarkson and righthand man Kaleb Cooper now try their hand at pig farming for the first time.
The former Top Gear star has been commended by Cooper for his pig farming abilities prior to season three's release in just a few week's time.
However, Clarkson himself has now revealed his tenure as a pig farmer hasn't come without its downsides which fans will likely get to see in the upcoming series.
In fact, Clarkson has admitted he'd "never seen Hogan so upset" following the sheer number of losses they encountered after introducing the pigs to the farm.
Jeremy Clarkson welcomed pigs to the farm for season 3 of his Amazon show
INSTAGRAM/JEREMY CLARKSONClarkson reflected: "I reckoned the pigs would provide something that’s sadly lacking in farming today: a bit of genuine happiness.
"Instead, it was almost unbelievably sad. I’ve never seen Lisa so upset. The film crew looked shell-shocked."
He delved further to the Times: "We had a catastrophically high level of deaths and I was desperately worried we were doing something wrong, but it turned out we weren’t.
"It was just that pigs are bad mothers — the Sandy and Black particularly so. That’s why it’s a rare breed."
Clarkson teased the arrival of the porcine creatures in a social media post last year, in which he hinted at "fantastic news" amid uncertainty over the Amazon show's future.
At the time, fans thought it was an announcement regarding the future of the show - which has since been greenlit for a fourth season too - but instead, it was Clarkson introducing the pigs to his followers.
Despite the horrors that Clarkson and Hogan have faced with the pigs and their offspring, they still regularly share updates on their social media channels onabout how the surviving animals are coping.
Just this past weekend, the Diddly Squat Farm Shop account shared a clip of piglets enjoying time in the pen.
It hasn't been all bad for Clarkson when it comes to dealing with the pork-producing animals, however, as Cooper explained last month in an interview about the upcoming episodes.
"Bear with me, it’s hard to get this out. He’s not a bad pig farmer," Cooper told The Sun.

"He’s actually really good at it. It’s the one job I can leave him do, and he’s surprisingly good. Jeremy has been really good at inventing his own stuff to help with the pigs.
"He’s great at bringing piglets into the world and takes pride in them. It’s amazing to see. It’s a skill, pig farming. Although I don’t want to big him up too much."
Fans will be able to see how Clarkson gets on with the pigs and how the past year at Diddly Squat has been when the first four episodes of Clarkson's Farm season three arrives on Amazon Prime Video on May 3.
