The Scottish comedian died a month after she moved to a hospice for end-of-life care at the age of 63
Janey Godley’s daughter – Ashley Storrie - fought back tears in an emotional video after the news that her mother had died at the age of 63 was announced.
Godley first revealed she had ovarian cancer diagnosis in November 2021 before revealing a year later that she had been given the all-clear.
However, the good news didn’t last long as a new scan showed signs of cancer in her abdomen – with the star being put into palliative care a month ago.
The news of her death was announced this morning by her agent before Storrie posted a heartfelt tribute to her mother on social media.
In the devastating video, Storrie said: “Hello friends, my mum Janey Godley died this morning at about 7.
"She was with friends and family and I wanted to tell you face to face because it felt very much what she would have wanted.
"She went peacefully and I want to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and a big thank you to Mum's found family who were around her throughout these last horrible days
She added: "My Auntie Elaine, Auntie Monica, Shirley, Giovanna, Tony Kelly, my daddy, Honey, Julia Sutherland.
"Thank you so much for being there and for making a very very scary moment peaceful and a nice transition."
"I want to thank all of you for all of your kindness and your support and I believe in my heart of hearts that she felt every bit of love you sent to her.

"And I think it kept her going. I think it genuinely, we got her longer because of all of the support and the love in the world. But that's it, it's over now. So thank you once again."
Heartbroken Storrie broke down at the end of the clip.
The video was accompanied by a caption which read: “Earlier this morning Janey passed away in her sleep. Her family were with her.
“The love and support from all her friends and fans during this cancer journey brought her enormous joy. It has also been a huge comfort to us, her family and close friends, thank you.
“We will take time now to comfort one another and wish to thank everyone for respecting our privacy at this time. Remember her in your laughter, she would have liked that.”
Before her death, Godley announced that she was cancelling her Autumn tour due to complications of her cancer.

The star cancelled her Autumn tour back in September
Whilst her team issued a statement regarding the cancellation, Godley posted a video on her Instagram where she addressed her fans and said: “Hi everybody.
“As you'll see in the news today we've had to cancel the tour. I'm really sorry. We sold thousands and thousands of tickets and there are so many people employed and my poor bloody agent Chris has been magnificent.
"I'm in the hospital. I've been here for eight days, I had sepsis as well, and my cancer team has advised me not to work again, just to try and get better.
"The sepsis is under control but the cancer is spreading so they've told me not to work." (sic)
