The Absolutely Fabulous star was taken to A&E on Wednesday

Jane Horrocks has spoken out about a horrifying bike accident that left her in hospital yesterday.

The Ab Fab star was rushed to A&E after she'd fallen off her bike once it came into contact with black ice.

On Wednesday, Horrocks thanked those who helped get her to the hospital as she branded the ordeal an "eye opener" after seeing how busy A&E was at a hospital in Brighton.

On Thursday, Horrocks returned to X, formerly Twitter, to provide an update on the incident and reveal the extent of her injuries.

"Thank you ALL for your well wishes," the 59-year-old penned. "I have a broken wrist and bruised ribs, so not too bad in the grand scheme of things.

"So many people in A+E yesterday had fallen on black ice and there was quite a lot of anger towards @BrightonHoveCC for not gritting the roads," she added.

She sparked concern on Wednesday as she explained what had happened with her 13.9k followers.

Horrocks wrote: "Just fallen off my bike on black ice in Brighton. In A+E now. It’s crazy busy.

"I haven’t experienced A+E for a very long time and it’s an eye opener. Be careful cyclists out there.

"Maybe these accidents occur to say Slow Down. We do so little of that, that sometimes it takes something stronger to enforce rest. I’m grateful for the guidance."

Paying tribute to those who lent a helping hand, she added: "A lovely couple helped me when I fell. They got me a cup of tea and brought me home.

"Thank you to them and the lovely Scottish nurse who put my arm in plaster when all the other ‘plasterers’ had gone home."

After the actor revealed the extent of her injuries on Thursday morning, a number of followers rushed to wish her a speedy recovery.

One person replied: "Glad you’re ok. (I took a huge tumble on ice two years ago… lotsa breaks… but the NHS put me back together," followed by a love heart emoji.

A second echoed: "Oh no Jane! How awful! Hope you’re feeling better. Sending loads of love."

While a third weighed in: "Sorry to hear this Jane. Hope you feel better soon. That's terrible about the roads not been gritted. Health + Safety should always come first especially in cold weather." (Sic)
