Strictly Come Dancing star Jamie Borthwick addressed his awkward comment on Saturday night about his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas.

On Saturday night, whilst speaking to Claudia Winkleman, Borthwick noted that he and Tsiakkas were “laying” together, which left the host and the other stars to assume the situation they were in.

The couple joined It Takes Two host Janette Manrara on Wednesday night and addressed the “elephant in the room” - leaving the EastEnders star red-faced.

Manrara joked: “Shall we talk about the elephant in the room? Because of the results show, you said this.

A clip of Borthwick from Saturday night was played, where he said: “We had a delirious night the other night, and we were laying there... on the rehearsal floor! The rehearsal floor.”

Manrara continued: “But luckily we have it all cleared up now because I think what you are referring to was this...”

The show then played a clip from Borthwick’s Instagram where he and Tsiakkas were lying on the floor during their rehearsals, and he was impersonating the judges.

“Aw, well you're very good at impressions!” Manrara praised, leaving Borthwick to quickly add: “I hope the judges don't take offence. Because I love them!”

During this week's competition, Borthwick and Tsiakkas will be performing the Salsa to Danza Kuduro by Don Omar.

Speaking about their rehearsals so far, Borthwick told Manrara: “This week is a good example and opportunity to do exactly what Michelle is saying.

“Last week, I was in the step-ups of the quickstep. So this is an opportunity for us to get all that energy, and calm it down.

“And you know what as well? I am having the time of my life.”

After their Quickstep, judges Anton Du Beke and Motsi Mabuse both claimed that they could see Borthwick and Tsiakkas lifting the Glitterball Trophy.

At the time, the soap star tried to be modest about the comments and told Winkleman: “It’s a bit too early to be mentioning the Glitterball, but nonetheless, I appreciate everything they say.”

Addressing the comments once again with Manrara, he expressed: “I don’t know if we are watching the same competition, really, there are some fantastic dancers in this competition.

“The standard is so high, and you know what, I feel like it has put pressure on me because I am really not thinking about that at all, we made a pledge to each other every week we try and improve our score and that’s it.

“And I really appreciate that they see the potential in me, I love that. I am appreciative of it, but I feel like I am not a dancer, I have not done this before, this is new, I am really trying to give it my everything.”
