The former Top Gear star has worked on a number of shows in recent years

James May fans will be left disappointed to learn that the 61-year-old won't be returning for another instalment of one of his successful Amazon Prime Video shows.

Since leaving Top Gear alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond in 2015, the trio have found a new home on the streamer with their motoring series The Grand Tour and several other solo projects.

Clarkson has achieved global success with his widely popular farming series Clarkson's Farm while May has starred in a handful of his own docu-series.

He launched the Our Man In... travel series in 2020 which has seen him explore cultures across the globe as well as trying his hand in the kitchen in his food show, Oh Cook!

But sadly, it's been reported his culinary journey has come to an end after two series due to the fact that May's no longer a novice chef.

Addressing Oh Cook's cancellation, a source claimed: "The whole idea behind the show was James being a clueless cook and learning on the job.

"It was a totally fresh concept that viewers lapped up, as usually cooking series are presented by professional chefs.

"But after two seasons, James is now quite a good cook, so it’s not a gag he can continue to flog," they told The Sun.

GB News has contacted May's representatives for comment on the decision.

The show - which is a play on his famous Top Gear phrase "Oh c**k!" - has led to success for May away from the screen too.

In 2020, he released his own cookbook to coincide with the launch of his culinary venture.

The book proved a financial success for May, reportedly outselling other texts he's written on cars.

While Oh Cook! may be no more, fans will get to see May team up with Clarkson and Hammond one final time in the upcoming Grand Tour finale later this year.

The trio headed to Zimbabwe to film the final instalment, with Clarkson joking he'd become too "fat and old" to continue filming the hit motoring show while Hammond shared his own explanation for the cancellation.

May, on the other hand, has launched another exciting on-screen project away from Amazon in recent weeks.

Back in April, he took to social media to announce he'd launched his very own YouTube channel.

Named James May's Planet Gin, the channel sees May produce a number of different pieces to camera while incorporating his own alcoholic beverage, James Gin.

For instance, he shows off his culinary skills by cooking up a recipe involving the gin as well as interact with consumers' reviews of the product.
