Martin started his TV career in 1996 with appearances on Sky One before moving on to Ready, Steady Cook and The Big Breakfast
Celebrity chef James Martin has opened up about his fears of his future in TV and admitted the struggles that he went through during the early days of trying to hold down jobs.
Martin is known for his appearances on This Morning and his own cooking show Saturday Morning with James Martin where he interviews celebrities and gives viewers tips and tricks.
He previously joined fellow celebrity chef and friend Simon Rimmer where he was challenged about his extreme dedication to his culinary work, leaving Rimmer to look back at Martin's days on BBC Good Food Shows.
Rimmer asked: "You've never lost that. You were always known as being the guy that would like… you'd roll up in your camper van, you'd sleep in your camper van at times, and you'd do the show, and you've never stopped working.
"Still now, you still don't. Is that because of a love for it, or is it also... are you slightly insecure that you worry about it ending?"
Martin confessed: "Several things... I worry about it ending for sure, not that I'm pressed about it now as much as I was. But I still care more than I did before, if that makes sense.

"Because when I do This Morning, none of the home economists can understand why I'm in there at five o'clock in the morning. They don't understand."
His career worry comes after previously having to have surgery to remove facial cancer after his first diagnosis in 2018.
Back in April, Martin opened up about his surgery and said: "Yes, the stitches have fallen out, as you know, the last time I was on, I was in the middle of operations.
"As we speak, the stitches have fallen out of my body at the moment and that's all clear, onwards and upwards!" he told Lorraine Kelly.

He first went public with his cancer last year when a foul-mouth rant at his TV crew was leaked shortly after his diagnosis, and later admitted to The Sun that his outburst was the culmination of a string of unfortunate events in his life.
It began with the death of his grandfather, then was followed by a home invasion by masked burglars, and finally his cancer diagnosis: "I was then diagnosed with cancer on my face and I had to have surgery, which I couldn't do until two days before Christmas when we had finished filming.
"Since then it has returned on several occasions and I have to have regular treatments."
Martin admitted that he "wholly regrets" getting angry, and agreed "lessons have been learned," before giving an update on his health during a tour date at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall.

"On a personal note, I just wanted to say thank you for 30 years of television. For me personally, I've been through a lot of s**t with cancer but I'm getting sorted at the end of next month.
"I will be back fighting at the end of February but I'm going on a little bit of a break to get that sorted."
