The Amazon founder waded in on the recent news for the iconic franchise

The James Bond fandom has gone into meltdown after Barbara Broccoli and Michael. G Wilson announced they had given up creative control to Amazon MGM Studios – with Bezos wading in on the decision.

Posting an announcement on the official Eon Productions Instagram account, the changes end the Broccoli family's reign of 63 years with the spy series.

The announcement comes four years after Daniel Craig's final appearance as 007 in No Time to Die.

Under the new joint venture announced today, Amazon MGM Studios, Wilson and Broccoli will remain co-owners of the James Bond intellectual property rights.

Bezos decided to take to his X account shortly after the news was announced to ask his followers and avid Bond fans: “Who’d you pick as the next Bond?”

The executive chairman was flooded with names such as Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy and Theo James.

One excited fan penned: “Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, & Christopher Nolan all wanted to make James Bond movies, but were turned down by the Broccolis.

You could make it a verrrrry interesting decade for James Bond.”

Another concerned user added: “Don’t screw it up and do something woke, keep true to this franchise and pick someone from the UK that meets the traditional aspects of the story and character.

It would be refreshing to see this for once given all the crap that has been pushed down our throats.”

Someone else agreed: “Respectfully, I think there is an unknown actor who could bring something really special to the character. Who could deliver a performance that would delight audiences.”

A fourth said: ”Don't reinvent the character for the present day. Instead, set the movies back in the Cold War era. Late 50s to early 60s.

Let Bond be Bond again without the constraints of forcing him into contemporary social paradigms.

Another wrote: “Please pick Henry Cavill for Bond, and get rid of the modern social and political considerations and just focus on great art.”

Some were not as pleased with the announcement as one X user expressed: “Respect the based-ness of the tweet, but you have to fire your studio executives. They can't make anything right. It's been a non-stop deluge of slop.”

Someone else replied: ”It's not about the pick for Bond (Henry Cavill), it's about the screenwriters you allow on the project.

The announcement has been met with huge backlash, with long-term fans of the franchise begging for Amazon not to “go woke” and “disneyfy” the new movie.
