ITV viewers rage broadcaster has ‘given up’ over ‘embarrassing’ 2-hour TikTok Xmas Eve show

The ITV schedule was thrown into chaos as the social media platform took over
Christmas Eve TV goers were graced with TV offerings such as a festive special Bake Off on Channel 4, a festive special of Gone Fishing on BBC, and a Royal Carol Concert on ITV earlier in the evening.
However, their TV viewing was interrupted when the primetime ITV slot was taken over by a programme about TikTok.
Rather than showing a Christmas classic movie, ITV opted to show the two-hour special of the best TikToks of the year.
The programme synopsis read: “A countdown of the top 100 funniest, most extreme and rudest viral videos of 2024 from TikTok and other social media platforms.
“Plus, an estimation of how much money the clips made for their creators.”
Fans were less than impressed by this compilation show and took to social media to complain.

One annoyed user said: “Tonight ITV are showing TikToks for 2 hours. TV has truly given up!
Others were also furious at the TV choice, and replied: “I’m waiting for someone to share the best bits on TikTok later.”
“It’s like TV ran out of ideas and just gave up,” another added before a third said: ”It's cheap content to fill television hours.
“Do they have to pay the Chinese government any copyright fees for all this footage?”

Someone else penned: “This is absolutely a sad day for TV... Britain's Get Singing or any spinoffs to other programmes should be put as Xmas special.”
A fifth added: “Yep - I thought exactly the same. This is what they show in what must be one of the most prime slots of the year.”
“So, 100 videos in portrait mode to watch on my landscape TV?” another wrote.
However, not all ITV viewers were unimpressed with the scheduled show, as one impressed fan said: “I actually think it’s a good idea.”
A second happy fan added: “It’s just like an extended You’ve Been Framed.
“I don’t see the problem.” (sic)
