ITV Unforgotten fans have once again been left feeling "unfulfilled" and "bored" with the crime drama as they slammed the predictable storyline on social media.
As the new series kicked off and decided to tackle some of the most controversial topics in British society today – fans were left furious with the “wokeness” of the writing.
So far, the series has touched on topics such as racism in academia, asylum seekers and the Covid pandemic.
Sinéad Keenan returned as DCI Jessie James and Sanjeev Bhaskar as DI Sunny Khan continuing their investigation of complex cold cases.
Tonight’s episode synopsis read: “With the details of Gerry Cooper's life becoming clearer and one suspect already being questioned, the Bishop Street team find suspects further afield.
“If Mel and Asif have nothing to hide, why do they claim not to remember Gerry?”
Fans of the show have complained every week about the new series

While some fans were happy to be back sitting in front of their TV for another instalment, many were already fed up and made their feelings clear on X.
“It’s quite good although predictable,” one noted before a second said: “I reckon one more series and this show will get mothballed or even fully axed.”
Someone else added: “Oh....forgot to mention....the plot is rather unrealistic and unplausable... text messages are not kept for a month by phone providers... let alone 4 years.”
A fourth noted: “Not sure how much longer I am going to be able to keep on with #Unforgotten. It’s such a dull storyline. Nothing like before.”
Fans have noted the writing has turned "woke"

“I’m bored and this is dull as hell, switching over #Unforgotten,” another displeased fan penned before another agreed: “I used to love this programme but I fear this could be the end. Quite predictable now.” (sic)
When the show first aired in 2015, Nicola Walker was at the helm as DCI Cassie Stewart and left fans heartbroken when she announced she was leaving the show.
Speaking to Radio Times after her exit, she said: “I’m not on social media, but when the final episode went out, I almost wanted to join Twitter to tell everyone that I didn’t walk away from the show, nor did they ask me to leave.
“It was simply that Chris and I thought it was a fantastic, impactful story.
"I love the irony of this brilliant woman dying an accidental death that wouldn’t be investigated in a show about complicated investigations.
“We hoped people wouldn't feel we were being cruel by serving up this incredibly sad story."

When joining the show, many were sceptical that Keenan would be able to fulfil the role and step into Walker’s shoes – something she made sure to tell people was impossible.
She also told Radio Times: “Only a fool would follow in Nicola Walker’s footsteps!”
