ITV Protection viewers have been left complaining about “giving up” on the show as they complained about the slow pace of the latest episode.
Tuesday's episode saw star Siobhan Finneran’s DI Liz Nyles reeling from the shocking developments of the previous instalment.
Protection plunges viewers into the murky world of organised crime and witness protection as Nyles tries to get to the bottom of a double murder in one of her safe houses.
However, episode three saw her worries of corruption in her unit increase as her fellow cop and lover Paul Brandice was fatally shot.

Left with only questions and haunted by the events so far, Nyles spent episode four trying to find out more about what happened.

Episode four saw Nyles's home, where her teenage daughter and elderly father live, invaded by an armed balaclava clad man attempting to steal a burner phone.
The tense scene resulted in a chase and short fight with the man, leaving Nyles with a bloody nose and down a potentially crucial piece of her evidence.
Some viewers complained the latest episode was 'dragging its feet'

Despite the pulse pounding scene, a revelation about Brandice’s death and a huge development for 13-year-old daughter of a slain informant Amy, viewers were unimpressed with the latest instalment.
“I gave up on this,” one viewer revealed as the show concluded.
Another wrote: “Jesus. It's dragging its feet this #Protection thing on ITV. I love Siobhan Finneran but I think she's been miscast in on this one. Nothing seems to happen. Disappointed is not the word.”
“Even if there's a twist at the end it's took way too long getting there,” a third despaired.
Others viewers praised the episode for its 'gripping' tension
