However, in a statement shared to its X, formerly Twitter page, Dancing on Ice bosses have explained why Rutherford will no longer be performing.
Explaining his withdrawal, the statement read: "Sadly Olympian Greg Rutherford MBE has had to withdraw from Dancing On Ice after sustaining an injury whilst in rehearsals for the final episode of the current series.
"Greg and Vanessa have been such a popular couple this series and have performed some truly memorable routines.
"We will be helping to support Greg and wish him well with his recovery.

"We also want to thank him for being such a treasured member of the Dancing on Ice family. #DancingOnIce."
Rutherford has been impressing on the ice all season long alongside professional skating partner Vanessa James.
She also took to social media to announce the news alongside a smiley selfie backstage with the long jumper.
James penned: "Unfortunately Greg has sustained a significant injury this morning at rehearsals and won’t be able to perform tonight.
"We are on our way to the hospital for Greg to get examined further and receive the treatment he needs."
It didn't take long for fans and fellow DOI stars to share their dismay at the last-minute withdrawal and hospital dash.
Professional skater Vicky Ogden replied to James's post: "My favs, champs in my eyes xxxx."
"Gutted. Such beautiful humans. Sending all our love to you both," Mark Hanretty added while Rutherford's fellow finalist Miles Nazaire - who's the favourite to win - commented: "Not the same without you brother! Time to recover love you."
