The journalist didn’t hold back when it came to making her opinion known at a recent red carpet event

India Willoughby has slammed the Labour government, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Health Secretary Wes Streeting over the party’s policies regarding the ban on hormone blockers and their stance on trans healthcare.

A ban on puberty blockers was introduced by the previous government using emergency legislation and was ruled by the High Court as lawful.

Former Health Secretary Victoria Atkins curbed the use of drugs for children and young people with gender dysphoria under emergency powers at the end of May.

A trans campaign group then took legal action, arguing that she had failed to consult patient groups and misused the emergency process.

Health Secretary Wes Streeting said he welcomed the court ruling, adding that children's healthcare must be "evidence-led".

During a recent red carpet event at the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards, Willoughby made her stance clear on the actions of Streeting and the Labour government by writing the words “Labour killing trans” on her body.

Speaking to Attitude at the event, she slammed: “I’m not exaggerating when I say that the Labour government are going to be responsible for the deaths of hundreds, possibly thousands, of trans people.”

Willoughby became the UK’s first trans newsreader in 2016 and added: “We are going through a very slow and quiet genocide. Everyone thinks that a genocide is all about death camps. Not necessarily.

“You’re stopping people transitioning. This is going to lead to suicides. Every study in the world has shown this leads to suicides.

“But Wes Streeting just does not care. I think it’s an absolute disgrace.”

This isn’t the first time that Willoughby has made her stance on Streeting and the Labour government clear.

Earlier this year, she wrote an op-ed for Attitude where she criticised Labour and the controversial Cass Review.

Touching on the article during the red carpet event, she continued: “My message to the Labour government is: if there’s anyone in the party that’s still left of centre, please stage a coup.

“Keir Starmer is not good news for the LGBTQ+ community. We need drastic action.”

She went on to describe the current climate for trans people as “our Cabaret years” and added: “Labour is not doing anything,

“The Conservative Party and Reform are waiting in the wings, and they are going to decimate the trans community.”
