The Toyah Battersby actress had been dating co-star Charlie De Melo

Coronation Street star Georgia Taylor has split from her co-star boyfriend Charlie De Melo after two years of dating.

The actress, 44, who plays Toyah Battersby in the long-running ITV soap, ended her relationship with De Melo, 35, several months ago.

The pair, who met on the set of Coronation Street in 2020 where De Melo portrayed Toyah's on-screen husband Imran Habeeb, began dating in late 2022.

Sources close to the couple have confirmed they remain good friends despite the separation.

The couple's relationship became public knowledge in July 2023 when De Melo shared photos from a Blur concert at London's Wembley Arena.

Prior to their romance, Taylor had been in a 14-year relationship with Casualty and The Bill actor Mark Letheren, which ended in July 2022.

De Melo had previously dated his former co-star Nicola Thorp, with their relationship lasting around a year in 2018.

Taylor had previously spoken warmly of De Melo, saying: "I absolutely adore him. He's been a dream. He's so funny so we laugh a lot."

A source told The Sun: "Georgia and Charlie are no longer a couple, but they remain friends who care about each other deeply."

The insider added: "They have lots of happy memories together, but are both really focused on work at the moment and looking forward to the future, there are no hard feelings."

The couple reportedly spent Christmas apart, with Taylor celebrating with friends and co-stars including Colson Smith, Julia Goulding and Daniel Brocklebank.

Both actors have been pursuing new career opportunities, with De Melo appearing in Disney's Rivals and BBC's Doctor Who since leaving Coronation Street.

Taylor has been a fixture on Coronation Street for nearly three decades, first appearing as Toyah Battersby in 1997.

In 2001, she won the Best Dramatic Performance British Soap Award for her role.

After initially leaving the soap in 2003, she appeared in several other TV shows including Casualty, where she played Ruth Winters, and Law & Order: UK as Junior Crown Prosecutor Kate Barker.

She made a permanent return to Coronation Street in 2016, while De Melo's character Imran met a tragic end in June 2022 following a heart attack.

The pair's on-screen chemistry as Toyah and Imran translated into real life, with their characters having been married on the ITV soap before De Melo's departure.

Their relationship was confirmed when they attended a Blur concert together at Wembley Arena in July 2023.

The couple later shared holiday snaps from southern Italy on their social media accounts.

Their romance began shortly after De Melo's character Imran was killed off in a dramatic storyline, where Toyah was involved in a car crash that led to his character's fatal heart attack.
