The star was reportedly furious with her elimination from the ITV skating show

Ferne McCann has clapped back at claims that she was left “humilated” and “furious” at her eviction from Dancing on Ice last Sunday.

McCann became the second celebrity to be booted from the skating competition and was visibly upset that her journey had come to an end.

Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern after the results came in, she said: “I'm so gutted, so gutted, but... it is what it is. We were having so much fun, I'm really sad..."

Willoughby responded sympathetically: "Oh Ferne I can see you're upset. Listen, you've got everything to feel proud of."

It has since been reported that the former Towie star was left in a furious backstage meltdown and was confused about how she had been the one to be axed despite her large online presence.

A source claimed to The Sun: “She had a meltdown in front of everyone after coming off the ice backstage. Ferne kept saying, 'This doesn't make sense,' and, 'It wasn't meant to be like this.'

"She couldn't understand how she didn't get the votes - despite having the most followers online."

McCann's situation was reportedly made worse by her costume choice for Movie Week, with sources saying she felt particularly humiliated about being voted off while dressed as a DreamWorks' Troll character.

Sources say McCann tried to maintain composure for her seven-year-old daughter Sunday, who was in the audience.

"She was so upset and was trying to be strong for her daughter Sunday," the insider revealed.

However, the star has since clapped back at the claims of her “meltdown”, taking to her Instagram stories to rubbish the reports.

Screenshotting headlines from articles, she captioned the post: “And to The Sun, these stories are COMPLETE rubbish and nonsense.

Please stop telling lies about me. The headlines do not AT ALL reflect how I felt or feel.” (sic)

The day after her departure from the show, McCann took to her Instagram stories once again to explain how she was feeling.

In two consecutive video stories, she said: “Good morning my angels. Look I have just returned back from the school run with the Poppy pink still in my hair, this is going to take some serious scrubbing.

“But I just wanted to say thank you so so much to everyone who supported Brendyn and me. I had an absolute blast, Dancing on Ice has just been such an amazing experience and I feel so proud that we ended on a high.

“I had my nephew’s there last night, I had Sunday and I am just so pleased that they got to see us as Trolls and Princess Poppy and honestly just thank you to everyone who makes and creates Dancing on Ice, it is just such a magical experience, I have learnt such a fantastic skill.

“I am seriously so happy we ended on an absolute high. Trolls is my favourite movie to watch with Sunday and it meant the absolute world having her in the audience with me last night so yes!

“You will see us back at the final supporting everyone and I can’t wait to see how everyone progresses on Dancing on Ice.

“So that is all from this little troll, I now need to scrub this out of my hair, Have a great day and again thank you so much to everyone that supported us, it means the world.” (sic)
