Eurovision excitement has begun and this year’s UK entry Olly Alexander has given fans a glimpse at the song he will be performing on the big night.
The It’s a Sin star sparked some division among fans though, with some claiming the track isn’t a “winning song” as several drew comparisons to other dance-pop hits.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the 33-year-old shared a clip of him singing Dizzy, and Eurovision fans immediately flocked to the comments section.
He penned: “Hello! here’s the first tease of my @eurovision song ‘dizzy’ !! oh i’m so excited !!!! i love you !!” (sic)
Responding to the sneak peek, X users were left divided over the song, with one writing: “This is a difficult genre to pull in ESC but if someone could do it it’s Olly. Just a bit worried UK will do the same mistake again as they did with Mae and James.”
“Another bottom placed finish based on politics then... why do we bother..” another complained.

A third admitted: “Yes very nice. Doesn't sound like a winning song for eurovision though, although I've only heard that snippet so... maybe there's a huge climactic bit, plus amazing staging, and some sort of world peace message.”
“Is this something from 2024 or 2008?” asked another sceptic. However, some disagreed and thought Alexander was in with a good chance.
“Some great discordant chord changes at the end of that chorus - look forward to hearing the whole thing and how it resolved into the verses! Very promising!” a fifth enthused.
One shared: “Yessss, love it. Can't wait for Eurovision! One of my tv highlights of the year!” (sic)

Last year, Mae Muller represented the nation with her track I Wrote a Song. Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, she finished in 25th place with only 24 points.
The Eurovision loss was a familiar one for the UK but came in the wake of Sam Ryder’s 2022 historic runner-up finish with Spaceman.
He became the highest-scoring UK entry since 1996 and the UK came second to Ukraine, going on to host the 2023 competition in the winning country’s place due to the ongoing war with Russia.
Ryder’s success was credited with changing how Brits view the contest after the UK was notorious for performing poorly due to low votes from other nations.

The high didn’t last long though, with Mae’s performance last year seeing the UK’s Eurovision success come crashing back down.
Alexander, who’s the lead singer in pop band Years and Years, was confirmed as being this year’s representation at the end of last year while appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
He said at the time: “‘I’ve loved watching Eurovision ever since I was a little kid and I’m beyond excited to be taking part next year.
“As a young boy I always looked forward to this incredible event of unbridled joy, the wonderfully chaotic mix of musical styles, theatrical performances, heartfelt emotion and humour.
“I really can’t believe I’m going to be a part of such a special legacy and fly the flag for the UK in the gayest way possible, it shall be an honour!”
