Riley Keough, the granddaughter to Elvis Presley and daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley, has refused a request from UK bank Barclays to pay an outstanding debt left by her late mother, according to reports.
Keough's mother Presley died at the age of 54 in January last year and left her daughter, 34, as the sole trustee of her estate.
The debt in question pertains to a property Presley purchased in the UK with a loan from Barclays Bank back in 2010.
Presley purchased the 11-bedroom and 49-acre estate of Coes Hall in Rotherfield, England, at the time with the loan.
Barclay is now claiming that Presley personally guaranteed repayment before she died but Keough is contesting that she shouldn't be held responsible, according to legal documents seen by Us Weekly.
Keough said in a court filing that Barclays shouldn't be trying to extract payment from her as it's been over a year since Presley's death.

The Daisy Jones and The Six actress reportedly contested that this means a statute of limitations has expired and Barclays has missed the deadline to file a claim.
According to another publication, the New York Post, Keough has also alleged that loan interest payments were only guaranteed by Presley for the five years between 2010 and 2015.
This would mean the trust wouldn't be responsible for any outstanding balance sought after by Barclays.
The estate was sold by Presley back in 2021 for over $4 million, five years after it was put on the market following her split from Michael Lockwood.

There is yet to be a ruling on Keough's case.
While Keough may have been named as sole trustee to her mother's estate, Presley was also survived by her mother Priscilla.
Presley also shared twin daughters with ex Lockwood: 15-year-old Finley and Harper. Her son Benjamin died by suicide in July 2020 at the age of 27.
Meanwhile, Keough welcomed her first daughter with husband Ben Smith-Peterson in August 2022 - and revealed the baby name was inspired by her grandfather.

A year after welcoming their child via surrogate, Keough told Vanity Fair magazine that they'd named the tot Tupelo.
Fans of the King of Rock 'N' Roll will know all too well that Tupelo is the name of the town where the legendary singer was born in Mississippi.
