Former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison has been met with messages of support after sharing a health scare which left her “in agony” and rushed to hospital over the Easter weekend.
The 58-year-old went on to explain how the experience had been an eyeopener as she admitted she saw things she “can’t unsee”.
Taking to her Instagram page, the former Heather Trott actress reflected on Sunday: “Hi everyone, I’ve just spent the last 24 hours in A&E at Blackpool Victoria hospital.
“I’ve seen things in the last 24 hours [that] I can’t unsee. I’ve been in complete agony.
“I’ve been made a million times better by the angels that are all of the NHS staff which I want to thank, like… big time.
“When people say they don’t get paid enough - they really don’t get paid enough. We’ve got a broken system. It’s gone to pot. It’s shot. But it’s still amazing and we still have it - just, by a thread.”

She continued: “I want to firstly say a huge thank you. I’m a lot better and when you sit for 24 hours in a chair in an A&E department being shipped off every six hours to go and get an IV, antibiotic drips, and come back again-“ before the video abruptly cut off."
The actress, who became a favourite in the BBC soap during her stint from 2007 to 2012, didn’t reveal the exact reason for her hospital dash.
However, several fans offered messages of support beneath the candid clip.
One penned: “I’m so glad your on the mend I’m still not over it when Ben Mitchell bashed you one over the head. [crying emoji] Rest up my friend and reach out if we can help in anyway.”

“Do hope you’re ok? Sending healing,” a fourth concerned fan commented, while another asked: “What on Earth is happening to you are you OK?”
“Hope you feel better soon , I had a stroke completely out of the blue six years ago and the NHS were there for me , can never thank them enough xx,” someone else shared.

Fergison left EastEnders 12 years ago after Ben Mitchell (at the time played by Joshua Pascoe) murdered her in a violent outburst, but she remains a memorable character on the long-running programme.
Meanwhile, her former co-star Laurie Brett, who used to star as Jane Beale, recently shared a similar experience during a hospital stay.
Last month, the 54-year-old posted a snap of herself in a hospital gown and clutching a teddy bear from her hospital bed. She captioned the X, formerly Twitter, post: "We have to ring fence & protect our @NHSEngland #whittingtonhospital from any politics.. An all party agreement.
"Thanks especially to Nicole for post op care. Thanks to everyone @thegirlsmusical @UnitedAgents & my darling @garyaknichols for feeding and looking after me."
