Eamonn, 64, is reportedly being courted by ITV bosses

GB News star Eamonn Holmes has broken his silence on a possible Celebrity Big Brother (CBB) appearance.

Eamonn, 64, is reportedly being courted by ITV bosses but it could take a “meaty six-figure sum” to tempt him.

The broadcaster said on GB News that reports suggesting he is set for a spell on the iconic reality show came as a surprise to him.

He was probed by Christopher Biggins on the matter, a former CBB housemate and a victor on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

He said: “Here’s a truth for you, Eamonn, in the Sun on page 11 it says you’re going into the Big Brother house.”

Eamonn responded: “It was news to me reading it this morning.”

He added: “I think The Sun would like any news associated with me at the moment and they print anything.”

The Northern Ireland native’s co-host, Isabel Webster, joked that ITV chiefs should “up the price a bit” to entice Eamonn.

The broadcaster refused to be drawn any further and did not give a definitive response either way, instead turning the attention on Biggins by asking him about his experience on the show.

The 75-year-old admitted he would not recommend it.

“No I wouldn’t, I was unceremoniously evicted”, he said.

“They wanted this awful boy to win. At the time it was pretty hard to be evicted.”

He then set about encouraging Eamonn to appear on the show, but told him to hold out for a fee larger than the reported £250,000.

A source told The Sun: “Celebrity Big Brother bookers are drawing up a wish list of contestants and Eamonn is on it. They would love for him to take part as he’d be such a popular housemate.

“Eamonn’s health concerns are something they would take into account and, when they package up an offer, they would make assurances to him that he would be looked after in the house.”

Celebrity Big Brother returned to screens in March on its new ITV berth following a five-year hiatus.
