Escape to the Chateau stars Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree gave an insight into their marriage in a recent interview.
The couple, who starred in the Channel 4 series which chronicled their journey of buying and renovating a French chateau to establish a thriving business, said goodbye to their beloved project at the end of 2022.
The couple are currently in America with their two children, Arthur and Dorothy, and have made some television appearances across the pond as their fanbase over the show continues to build.
Speaking to KING 5 News in the US, the husband and wife team were asked how they managed to embark on the huge project without constant "fights".
“Everybody thinks I say yes all the time,” Strawbridge, 64, replied, adding: “That's not true. But Angel now understands that you eat an elephant a bite at a time.
“And you have to sort of start and do one little bit at a time. That's the first thing we establish, and she can have anything but not everything."
Continuing, he went on: “And once we got that together, you became more…” Cutting in, Adoree, 45, pointed out: “But I think the thing is, is that we do argue and it's healthy to do it, but our core values are aligned.
“So the arguments are kind of around around the edge, you know, and we've got the same goal. We want the same things for our family.”
Throughout the nine series of the show, artistic Adoree often had big ideas for decorating the 45-room chateau, while Strawbridge took a more practical approach.
Elsewhere in the chat, the couple talked about the way they parent their two children, who were heavily involved in the series.

"We do things... you know, I grew up in the 60s and the children do things that I used to do in the 60s," Strawbridge reflected.
"They're allowed to be free and run around the place and enjoy the woods and enjoy just being there. I think that's a huge part of what we do, just live."
He went on to enthuse "Play with sticks! The kids build these little fires and toast marshmallows and if you do that, you've made it."
Adoree added that their children enjoy playing a simple game in which they "get two little sticks, put it in a stream, and see what stick wins".
