Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree detail concern over chateau wedding prices: 'Should put our prices up!'

Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree have opened up about their biggest concern when it comes to their chateau and wedding business, claiming many were worried about the prices in the early days.
Strawbridge and Adoree first found fame on Channel 4's Escape to the Chateau which ran for six years and the family renovated their French home, kick-starting their ever-thriving business.
Their two children - Arthur, 11 and Dorothy, 10 - were also on the adventure and would often help their mother and father with odd jobs around the chateau, learning different tips and tricks.
However, when they first began their business, Adoree admitted they were faced with some criticism when it came to the prices of their services - something she is adamant was more than fair.
The pair recently did some "myth-busting" on their podcast - Dick and Angel... Chat-eu - and left Adoree to express: "We always do it on our tour and do you know what, it is just a bit of light-hearted fun and we don't take it seriously.
"Over the last 10 years, I feel we have been quite transparent with who we are and there have been lots of stories which have been written over the years. I remember the first one that I hadn't signed to, which was an expose of our wedding price list.
Angel addressed the rumours they hear about themselves

"And the headlines were something like 'Kings Ransom' and at the time I remember sort of thinking 'This isn't fair, they're such good value', people who have told us and come and got married at the chateau that we should be much more expensive."
Strawbridge teased: "We come along for the weddings and then after we go 'We should put our prices up' but actually the result of that was..."
"The result of that, the next day after maybe feeling a little bit disheartened, the next day we had about 200 enquiries," Adoree revealed before Strawbridge continued: "Yeah and I said 'let's put the prices up, let's not be shy'."
Explaining her reason for not hiking up the price, Adoree said: "If we were looking at it like cold-hearted, economy, high and in demand, there is a lot of demand and this isn't an advertisement for our wedding business.
"But I never wanted to do that in a way because I have always felt that it is important that you know if you want to get married here you are not going to be outpriced. That is because of my values and who I am."
Giving his take on the topic, Strawbridge noted: "It is interesting because when we have actually looked at other people who do weddings, it is very easy for a chateau to do 40 weddings per year, but we will never do that because we don't want to become where it is just about people coming through.
"This is our home and we will keep the numbers way down because it is about quality of life for everyone, the family and everything else."
The 64-year-old also noted now the couple have recently heard a rumour that they are selling the chateau and added: "To be fair we are lucky to be here, how many times have we heard that we have sold the chateau, people worry about that."

Adoree laughed: "And it's still all the time. Just to clear this up, once and for all we have not sold the chateau, it is our forever home and it has never been up for sale, it never will and everything that we do, we put in place for Arthur and Dorothy.
"This rumour, it went worldwide! This is me asking you a favour. If you want to start a little rumour saying that we still live at the chateau and we are going to be here forever, I would really appreciate that."
