The Escape to the Chateau couple were left stunned when a visitor invaded their home

Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree often let their children explore the grounds they live on and get stuck in with a lot of their projects - with one recently bringing a new resident into their chateau.

The family's Channel 4 series - Escape to the Chateau - began in 2015 and followed the family's life after they upped and left the UK in exchange for France, putting their life into renovating their new home.

As well as documenting their renovation projects, Strawbridge and Adoree were also keen to grow their wedding business, showcasing their stunning venue with their own wedding in November 2015.

Their show came to an end on December 18, 2022, but the family have continued to update their fans with their ongoing projects on their Instagram account.

The most recent update came on Wednesday afternoon after their son Arthur Strawbridge, 11, found a grass snake in their garden, which accidentally found its way into their home.

Posting an image of their son cheerfully holding the snake, the caption read: "Hello to you on this Wonderful Wednesday! We have had many geese on the loose!! But today we have a 4ft harmless grass snake on the loose!

"Arthur loves bugs, insects, spiders and snakes and found a 4ft friend last night. Daddy said ‘You CAN’T keep him’…Arthur agreed but wanted to ensure he had a good drink of water…(!!) and to show the team...

"So he put him in his terrarium temporarily, but his new friend escaped and is now roaming the Chateau… Dorothy is not impressed!!! Have a lovely day!!"

Fans of the family were quick to flock to the comment section to send their wishes to Dorothy Strawbridge, 10, and gave her some sound advice for how to proceed living in the family home.

One joked: "Well Dorothy, I would definitely move out and into Grandma's!!"

"Oh my word Arthur you’re definitely your Dad's son…… I wouldn’t be too pleased either," another penned before a third said: "OMG.. I would not sleep until it’s found."

"Thoughts and prayers Dorothy thoughts and prayers," someone else noted before a fifth added: "Oh dear god I’d die a thousand deaths if I encounter that! Dorothy girl go to Grandma's house pronto."

Another quipped: "Ahhh! So you invested in a mouse control device!!! Nice!!!" (sic)

The couple recently reflected on some changes in their lives and concerns about their children's involvement with their projects in a new interview.

Speaking to Virgin Radio, Adoree announced: "We just found out that both the children can come with us for the whole tour, literally seconds ago!"

However, Strawbridge admitted: "Arthur is now starting college in September, big school, and we were a little bit concerned because he hasn't even started yet.

"We've never had any problems with Dorothy and Arthur while they've been at primary school because the headmistress there always says, 'It's education, take them away, they will learn so much from travelling around the place!'.

"We were worried about senior school but he said yes, go for it!"
