The Escape to the Chateau couple were embroiled in a leaked audio controversy last year

Escape to the Chateau stars Dick Strawbridge and Angel Adoree have addressed last year's shock audio which was leaked to the press, in which Adoree can be heard calling a producer a "c***" in a furious tirade.

The shocking rant made headlines not long after Channel 4 announced it had cut ties with the couple and that there would be no more episodes of their renovation series.

While Escape to the Chateau has been off air since 2022, the two stars of the series now front their own podcast about the French chateau they bought and revamped into a thriving home and business.

Their TV venture began in 2016, but the popular series came to an end at the end of 2022.

On the weekly podcast, the couple fill their fans in on what they are now up to with their two children, Arthur and Dorothy.

The latest episode saw them addressing false claims they had read about themselves, promoting Adoree, 46, to add: "There have been lots of stories that have been written over the years, but I remember the first one that I hadn't signed up to, which was an expose of our wedding price list.

"And at the time I remember thinking, 'This isn't fair, we're such good value - in fact people have told us who've come and got married at the chateau that we should be much more expensive!'"

"They have the weddings and then after they've finished, they say we should put our prices up!" Strawbridge, 64, interjected before adding: "But the result of that was..."

"Well, the next day we had about 200 enquiries!" Adoree enthused.

"To be fair, we're lucky to be here at all as the present owners have allowed us to stay here," her husband replied, joking about another ongoing rumour.

He went on: "How many times have we heard that we have 'sold the chateau?' People worry about that!"

"Just to clear this up once and for all, we've 100 percent not sold the chateau," Adoree insisted.

"It is our forever home, it's never been up for sale, it never will and everything that we do, we put in place for Arthur and Dorothy. This kind of rumour... it went worldwide!"

"I've read 'Escape's been axed', did nobody actually see the final programme and the big party?" Strawbridge complained, adding it had been their decision to call time on the show.

Talking about additional false reports, Adoree continued: "There was one week we were bankrupt, then we were millionaires in the same week! And then we were divorced."

"But I did read about the 'foul-mouthed rant' you had against a producer..." Strawbridge pointed out.

Laughing, Adoree admitted: "No, that one was completely true, but do you know what? He was an a**e! And I guess I wish I'd just done it a little bit earlier."

"And anybody can tell one side of the story and hide behind anonymity, it's context that's important," Strawbridge concluded.

In the leaked audio, which made headlines last May, Adoree fumes: "Who is that inspired by when you’re f***ing working at the chateau?" before adding: "Just tell me that and then you can f***ing leave – and this is me f***ing angry because I think you’re a f***ed up little c***."
