Death in Paradise fans were left confused during the end of season 13 tonight as Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) and Florence Cassell (Josephine Jobert) finally admitted their feelings for one another and left the island of Saint Marie.
Tonight, Florence finally revealed her love for Neville but at first, the DI rejected her feelings due to not wanting to be hurt once again.
After solving his last case, Neville was all ready to leave for the airport before he was accosted by his Saint Marie family who managed to convince him he needed to give Florence another chance.
As he raced to the docks, he finally caught up with her and said: “Florence… I don’t want to say goodbye, but if you do then that is fine, especially after me acting like a complete
“Idiot,” Florence interjected before Neville continued: “Yeah.. idiot. Listen Florence. I don’t need promises, I don’t need guarantees.
“If the unknown is all you have to offer then it is good enough for me, whenever it happens wherever it happens, that is good enough for us to take the leap together.”

The pair boarded the boat and sailed off into the sun, but fans were left unsure as to what was going to happen next as no new DI has been announced.
Taking to their X account, one fan commented: “Interesting to see how this gets picked up again in the (I assume) Xmas special.
“If they’re going travelling, will there just be a new off-screen detective taking charge, just Naomi and team or something else?”
“So are we gonna be getting a new detective then?” another asked before a third exclaimed: “NOW HAVE TO WAIT TILL CHRISTMAS TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS.”

Another used said: “ I think the BBC should start announcing the new DI with the same level of hype and intensity they do announcing the new Doctor.
“I want cryptic ads and teasers for weeks and a big dramatic reveal in a special broadcast!!”
“It's just a quick holiday round the islands, right? They're coming back, right?” a fifth fan hoped before another penned: “So who will the new detective be? That’s the next question we need answering.” (sic)
Touching on Little’s departure from the series, a source told The Mirror: “Ralf has been brilliant in the role and he’s given it a good long run. Fans are sure to be sad to see him go but they’ll also be happy for Neville.”

The series has been commissioned for a 14th series and will return for a Christmas special at the end of the year – but who will take over from Little?
The former Two Pints star recently discussed his potential replacement on his Instagram account and decided to hold and Q&A.
He told his fans: “I don’t know. I have no idea, I’m not gonna swerve answering the question. I don’t know. I don’t know which direction they’re gonna go in.
“I have honestly no idea and they haven’t told me. Maybe they had no idea yet. I, like the rest of you, are going to be just sitting and asking, ‘Who’s next?’ Who knows? No idea. But we’ll see what happens.”
