Death in Paradise fans were in meltdown last night as Florence Cassell (played by Josephine Jobert) returned to the BBC One drama.
Cassell has left and returned to the show on a couple of occasions, initially taking a break in 2019 before returning for four episodes in 2022.
Last night, after much speculation from fans over the last couple of weeks, Cassell finally returned to the BBC drama and could be the only thing that saves Neville Parker (Ralf Little) from leaving.
Another familiar face also returned, as Danny John-Jules returned as Dwayne Myers to offer the team some support after Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles) unexpectedly left.
Parker made a shocking revelation during the episode last night after having his heart broken three times in the space of four years.
He was knocked back by Cassell in 2019, faced turmoil with the Sophie/Rebecca saga and finally felt ready to explore a romantic connection – but not with his ex-girlfriend Zoe who was posing under the username Sunset Chaser online.

Parker admitted last night that he was leaving to go travelling and told Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson) “If there’s one thing this job teaches you, it’s that life’s too short.
“It’s not just he cases, it’s what happened with the commissioner a few weeks ago. So I need to be more like Zoe, take a risk, before it’s too late.
“This is a small island, it’s full of ghosts for me. Florence, Rebecca. What are the chances of me finding love again here? So if I do want to find the one, and I really do, I’m going to put myself out there, literally.”
As the episode came to an end, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) walked down the steps of his home and received a phone call.

Noticing the number, he answered and asked: “So it’s true? You can come out of witness protection,” before Cassell was revealed and said: “It sure is, sir! Miss me?”
In a teaser for next weeks episode, Cassell admits: “I missed him, more than I thought I would,” and hints that romance could, at last, be on the cards for them.
Viewers of the show couldn’t contain their excitement when Cassell appeared on their screens, leaving one X user to comment: “ADMIN YOU HAVE NEVER EVER DONE ME WRONG I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING BAD I EVER SAID I WILL NEVER DOUBT YOU AGAIN.”
“Florence will be the reason Neville stays I bet,” another theorised before a third added: “NO NO NO!!! Look we just get Duane back and now there's a chance Neville might leave?????? NO HE CANT!!!!! Florence and Neville are right for each other.”

One avid viewer asked: “WHY do you keep DOING this to me??? I'm exhausted- can't lose my Neville. 7 days is TOO LONG.”
“Look, he has to stay....I can't take another change of personnel in this show again so soon! Florence has to be enough of a reason for him to stay,” a fifth noted.
“Please let Neville and Florence finally get together,” another begged as another excited user echoed: “STOP THIS IS ALL IVE EVER WANTED.” (sic)
