Doctor Who fans will be eager to know whether memorable star David Tennant will ever be returning to the sci fi series.
Tennant became a fan favourite as the tenth Doctor from 2005 to 2010, but he returned to the show once again as the fourteenth incarnation of popular character from 2022 to 2023.
The Scottish actor, 52, appeared in the role again for three episodes as part of the show’s 60th anniversary.
Executive producer Russell T Davies brought the character back when he returned himself after producing the series during Tennant’s initial stint on the BBC’s long-running show.
The specials concluded with Tennant’s character regenerating in a different manner, with the new Doctor (played by Ncuti Gatwa) able to step into the role while Tennant’s version went on to live with Donna Noble (Catherine Tate’s) family.
Following the episodes, fans of Tennant’s Doctor have been eager to find out whether he could potentially make another return in the future.

However, the Broadchurch actor seemed to put a stop to such rumours, explaining the Doctor had “retired”.
When asked about the speculation, he replied: “The Doctor’s happy. He is in a garden in Chiswick, being made mac and cheese by Bonnie Langford!
“The door is not any more open than it ever was, because in Doctor Who if you want to bring someone back, there are endless ways of doing it. It’s very much the end of the story.”
Speaking to Radio Times, he was asked if he’d be back if Gatwa’s Doctor wasn’t around during a Dalek invasion.
“You could also say, ‘Why has Patrick Troughton not landed here?’” Tennant responded.

He added: “It unpicks if you think about that too much. I’m retired! The 14th Doctor is retired!”
The 60th anniversary special aired late last year, and saw a mixed reaction from fans of the classic series.
The latest episodes saw many vowing to boycott the series after they labelled them “woke” and “cringe”.
One particular moment that got fans talking and also went viral on social media was when trans character Rose (Yasmin Finney) scolded the Doctor for “assuming” the gender of an alien character.

While greeting the alien, Meep, the Doctor insists he can “help get him home”.
In response, Rose pointed out to the Doctor: “You’re assuming ‘he’ as a pronoun?”
“True. Yes. Sorry, good point,” Tennant’s character responded, before asking the alien his preferred pronouns.
It didn’t take long for fans to fume over the scene, with many viewers slamming the “woke” episode.
