Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy has left Oscars fans "sobbing" after he bagged the Best Actor gong for his performance in Christopher Nolan's biopic.
Nolan, himself, also bagged a gong for Best Director, while the film also boasted a Best Supporting Actor win thanks to Robert Downey Jr and the Best Picture nod.
Taking to the stage to accept his award, Murphy was clearly overjoyed as he reeled off his speech.
Addressing the Hollywood crowd and viewers at home, Murphy said: "I'm a little overwhelmed. Thank you to the Academy.
"Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas, it's been the wildest, most exhilarating, most creatively satisfying journey you've taken me on over the past 20 years.
"I owe you more than I can say. Every single crew member, every single cast member on Oppenheimer you carried me through.
"All my fellow nominees, I remain in awe of you truly. I want to thank my incredible team... and I'm a very proud Irishman standing up here tonight.
"You know, we made a film about the man who created the atomic and for better or for worse we're all living in Oppenheimer's world so I'd really like to dedicate this to the peacemakers everywhere."
It didn't take long for social media to be awash with Murphy's fans expressing their delight at the Peaky Blinders star win on the big stage.
One person said on X, formerly Twitter: "I’ll never forget seeing oppenheimer in theaters and crying and just being STUNNED by cillian murphy’s acting and portrayal of robert oppenheimer. so fucking deserved."

"CILLIAN MURPHY !!!!!!! MY BABY SO WELL DESERVED #Oscars," another added, before a third said: "MY GOAT CILLIAN MURPHY WON BEST ACTOR LETS F***ING GOOOOOOOO."
Before long, tears were flowing as a fourth said: "Cillian Murphy making me tear up, he’s so tender."
"MY IRISH SELF CRYING W HAPPINESS FOR CILLIAN RN #oscars," added a fifth before another weighed in: "Standing ovation. I'm crying. Finally his talent is recognised #Oscars #CillianMurphy." (sic)
Murphy's win during this year's awards wasn't the only major talking point from proceedings.
