The comedian and professional partner Dianne Buswell once again wowed with their Samba

Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has warned show bosses that if they put him down to open the show again, he will be “having words”.

The couple performed their Halloween special Samba to Stayin Alive' by The Bee Gees and scored 26 out of a possible 40.

Each week, a different couple opens and closes the show, adding more pressure to their performances.

On Saturday night, McCausland and professional Dianne Buswell were given the gift of opening the show – but this left the comedian to panic about whether he knew the routine or not.

It was the first time the couple had finished at the bottom of the leaderboard, with Motsi Mabuse pointing out that whilst the routine was “fun”, she could see how difficult he found it.

Head judge Shirley Ballas added: “Now I never thought I'd say... but you actually overcooked the bounce a little bit,” before Anton Du Beke noted that his “bounce was probably too much.”

“There was a bit of hopping involved which is not great. I'd like to see more stretch in your upper body,” Craig Revel Horwood critiqued.

The couple joined It Takes Two host Fleur East to discuss the weekend, with the former X Factor star asking whether he found it nerve-wracking.

McCausland immediately admitted: “It was horrible. I won’t lie I did not like going on first and if they put me on first again we’re going to be having words.

“My routine went out the window, and I mean, if people at home don’t realise what happens before you go on you get to have a little run-through of your dance in the little training space.

“And then you go out and do the dance. When you're on first you don’t get any of that, when you’re first you have to be in a queue and when you're in the queue you think.

“The more I thought the more I realised ‘I don’t know this dance!’. I had a panic and a mind blank and then I made you nervous.”

Laughing at his innocence, Buswell quipped: “Yes he was telling me right before we went on ‘I don’t remember it Di, I just don’t remember it

“And I was like ‘Yes you do; your body knows what to do, trust yourself!’.”

Adding on to her comment, McCausland said: “I overcompensated with enthusiasm and basically you are not allowed to be enthusiastically doing the Samba.

“You're not allowed to have fun. I had too much fun and I was penalised for it.”

The mixed feedback from the judges left Buswell looking deflated as she made her way to speak to Claudia Winkleman.

Fans quickly spotted one particular moment that they believe proves she was left “fuming” and took to their social media accounts to discuss it.
