The quick-witted comedian couldn't resist poking fun at the TV doctor during the launch show
Chris McCausland, comedian and new contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, has been applauded for his savage remark towards co-star Punam Krishan.
Appearing on Saturday's pre-recorded launch show for the dance competition, McCausland, Krishan and the rest of their celebrity co-stars joined Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman to find out which pro dancers they'd all been paired with.
McCausland had everyone in stitches when he was unveiled to be dancing with Dianne Buswell, poking fun at his ability as a blind competitor and quipping the pair wouldn't make it to November.
Meanwhile, Krishan was paired up with Gorka Marquez for the upcoming series, something the TV doctor was ecstatic about.
An overjoyed Krishan spoke with Daly during the launch, with the BBC Strictly host saying: "Dr Punam! You are going to be continuing your work as a GP whilst doing Strictly. So I imagine you've got to be a bit creative with the old multi-tasking."
"I've got to be!" Krishan replied. "The days are very long and I'm a very literal student.

"So I was told I've got to break in my shoes. So last week, picture the scene, doctor comes out, they call you in and they're in front of you, they're in their scrubs and then they're in these bad boys," she added as she showed off her high-heeled shoes.
Daly weighed back in: "You have actually applied all of your years of medical training to one very specific area now."
Krishan revealed: "Yes, it's all about the feet now. So over the years, the only thing I've heard is about blisters and blisters getting in the way of dancing.
"So cream, plasters, you name it, I've got it and if it all works I might share."
As her co-stars giggled, McCausland spotted an opportunity and leaned over to interrupt the conversation.
"Punam, can I just say that none of us can believe we've managed to get in the same room as a GP," the comedian remarked.
The putdown left Krishan open-mouthed as she pointed and laughed while Pete Wicks winced behind McCausland and Daly swiftly moved the show on.
Within minutes of the joke, McCausland received applause from BBC viewers at home given the difficulty members of the public experience when trying to see their doctor and lengthy NHS waiting times.
One fan commented on X: "I was just waiting for someone to make a joke/comment about seeing a GP.. yes Chris #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly."
"Chris on fire with the GP joke #Strictly," a second added with a laughing emoji while a third commented: "Chris with his being in the same room as a GP comment. He's just won #Strictly."
