Channel 5’s latest four-part drama – Love Rat – hasn’t appeared to have made a lasting impression on its viewers after many switched off the “worst drama ever”.
The show follows Emma (played by Sally Lindsay) as she sets off on holiday to Cyprus and strikes up a romantic relationship with the hotel owner, Niko (Gerald Kyd).
At first, it seems like a holiday romance, but soon Niko is asking Emma to move in with him and that’s when things begin to take a turn.
Niko asks Emma for a short-term loan and soon, Emma realises not everything is as it seems and she is embroiled in drama.
The first episode began on Monday night - with the final episode airing on Thursday - but it didn’t take long for several viewers to rip the show apart.
Taking to their X accounts, one fan slammed: “Most probably the worst drama I have ever seen on TV but I can’t stop watching to see how much more awful it gets! #LoveRat.”

“Just finished the 2nd episode & don't think I'll watch anymore, the acting is awful & it's so cheesey #laughable #loverat,” another quipped.
A third added: “Cannot believe they still make crap like this anymore. Gave up after 5 mins. It's awful. Just my opinion #loverat.”
“#LoveRat can't believe channel 5 have tried to pass this off as a thriller, it's hilarious,” another fumed as a fifth noted: “#Loverat oh dear. This started off so well but has quickly descended into a far-fetched average drama.”
Giving up, a sixth user said: “I posted on here that I will stick with this to the end. I have changed my mind, it is just too terrible to keep on watching this utter c**p. Sally Lindsay's character is absolutely ridiculous and the acting isn't that good either. #LoveRat.”

Not all the feedback on the show was negative, however, as one hopeful argued: “I'm really liking #LoveRat. Okay so there have been a few times that I've said to the screen.....'no, that would not have happened'.
“But tbh, there is so much doom and gloom and violence and weird stuff on the streaming channels (I don't know why I subscribe), that I find it okay.” (sic)
Lindsay recently opened up on her new role and told RadioTimes.com: “It's like when you learn a new word, you hear it all the time.
“When I was out there, we were hearing stories of this happening to women. There were cases we heard of all the time, it happened to Imogen’s auntie, who played my daughter.

"Gerald [Kyd] showed me a thing on the Greek Reporter that somebody had pretended to be Keanu Reeves’s PA, a beautiful young man.
“So there were stories that happened when I was out there, it's actually quite a common thing to be to be singled out and to be manipulated, which is horrific because it’s one thing stealing your money, but stealing your heart is pretty unforgivable."
