The Queen legend has collaborated with singer Talia Dean

Queen legend Sir Brian May has teamed up with former X Factor star Talia Dean, who made it to the final of the talent show in 2017.

Following on from their number one lockdown single, Get Up, the duo have collaborated again, with 10 percent of the proceeds for their new song going towards homeless charity Crisis.

Released on Friday, November 8, You Made Your Bed is a powerful post-break-up song with a new twist that will resonate with millions.

The lyrics turn heartbreak into a powerful vision of the future, but the meaning can also be applied further.

Speaking to exclusively GB News, 39-year-old Dean reflected on the inspiration for the track.

"It was a euphoric moment, like an epiphany, really," she remarked. "You know, when you've been in a in a toxic situation for so long and then you finally break free of that, you kind of want to stand on the top of a mountain and scream, 'I'm free.'

"And it's that kind of anthem. It's euphoric, and it was written from a positive place, not a bad place.

"I didn't want to sound bratty and and, you know, talk badly about anyone. I just wanted to talk about how good it feels to break free of a toxic relationship.

"And that can be any relationship - that can be within family, that can be with friends. It can be, you know, an intimate partner.

"But that was the message that I wanted to give out to people. I really wanted to take it back to the 90s as well.

"I grew up in the 90s, and I really wanted to have that whole girl power vibe, where it's girls having fun and and remembering that the be all and end all is not just to settle down, it's to actually settle down with someone that you're really happy with, and thank God I am really happy with somebody now.

"But I think sometimes we're in danger of settling for less, and settle in for, you know, less than what we're worth."

Touching on the link to the charity they're supporting, she continued: "We're going to donate some of the proceeds to Crisis charity - some people, especially in certain cultures, can stay in a relationship because they haven't got anywhere to go and they haven't got anyone that would support them, or maybe they're being coerced in a way where they haven't got funds.

"So we know that a charity like Crisis really support people that need to get out somewhere quick and find a bed somewhere quick.

"So with the title of the song as well, You Made Your Bed, we wanted to give a little bit back and say, you know, this isn't just a euphoric message of a woman having fun. This is a real message.

"You know, you've you've got help, you've got somewhere to go. Don't settle for less. Life is for living. It's a gift. Don't spend your whole life being miserable in a situation that you can't get out of."

May, 77, added: "I see this track as a very important marker in Talia’s career.

"It’s as if, in this song, she's shaking off not just a relationship, but a whole way of life which she no longer wants to live.

"She and I are already working in the exciting new territory which this song predicts.

"But for now, this is song packed with pure naughtiness and fun, and makes me smile every time I hear it."
