Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall has left its fans disappointed after he gave an update on whether the people of Shipton Abbott would be crossing over with those on the island of Saint Marie.
At the end of season one, Marshall’s character, Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman, and his old friend Harry the lizard were seen returning to the Saint Marie.
This left loyal fans to theorise that it could be possible there was a crossover between Beyond Paradise and Death in Paradise imminent.
However, Marshall has since crushed viewers’ hopes as he admitted there are no signs of any crossover happening soon.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Marshall noted that it was “not [something that would happen] in the immediate future, I don’t think, but it’s definitely something to be considered in the future.
“I would absolutely love for certain characters to come and see us at Shipton Abbot. Specifically, someone like Don’s [Warrington] character.

“Don Warrington – I mean, he is the Don. I’m in thrall to him. I absolutely love him. He’s the most charming man on Earth.
“To have Don and Don’s character, Selwyn Patterson, come and pay us a visit, would be the dream, really. And Danny John-Jules as well.
“I love Danny. I’m great friends with Danny. Many, many characters. But not in the immediate future, I don’t think.”
The first episode of series two airs tonight on BBC One at 8pm and will see Humphrey and Esther Williams (played by Zara Ahmadi) sign up for a murder mystery but things soon take a turn.

The synopsis reads: “Humphrey and Esther join Shipton Abbott players for a murder mystery rehearsal. Though Humphrey is only playing a detective, things turn from amateur to professional when the actor laying the victim is found dead with a real knife in his back.
“As the duo tackle perplexing crime, they soon unravel a dark past that reveals hidden connections between the actors.
“Away from the case, Humphrey and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) embark on the process of becoming foster parents, while Anne catapults herself into the world of online dating.”
Marshall was faced with a barrage of backlash when he first announced he was returning to the role as Goodman, but has since admitted to being “fine” with people who “scorn” it.

“You always want critics to like your work. I have a theory – not a theory, actually, it’s a fact – that to make a show like Death in Paradise or Beyond Paradise, that has a broad demographic, that you can sit down and watch with your kids, that bonds all family members in the room, is incredibly hard to do.
“And to have people scorn it… I’m fine with it now, but it bothered me a bit in the past. These shows are hard to make and they bring people together – that’s got to be lauded a little bit, right?”
