The model and actress sparked some backlash from BBC viewers

Celebrity Race Across the World returned to screens on Wednesday, with a new host of famous faces taking on the gruelling task.

Among them was model and actress Kelly Brook, 44, who took on the challenge with her husband Jeremy Parisi, 39.

The show sees teams of celebrities racing across an area of the world, with the winners being the fastest to reach the final destination by using all forms of transport other than planes.

The four new famous faces embarking on the epic 12,500km race of a lifetime include broadcaster Jeff Brazier and his son, Freddy; actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin, Mary Ellen; Radio 2 host Scott Mills and his husband (then fiancé), Sam; and broadcaster Brook and her husband.

Their journey began on Wednesday in Belém, Northern Brazil - the gateway to the Amazon - and throughout the show they will pass through five checkpoints across the length of South America, to reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in Southern Chile.

Viewers tuned into the debut episode of the series soon became critical of Brook for "not allowing Jeremy to speak" as they worked out their journey.

Many were distracted by the "interruptions" and blasted the TV personality on social media.

It was teased that the Heart Radio host had a different approach to her husband as she wanted to experience new things while Jeremy's eyes were on the prize.

Not long into the episode, social media users rushed to X to complain about Brook

One penned: "Wtf, has Kelly Brook let her husband finish a sentence yet. Never heard anyone babble over someone so much. Talks for the sake of talking & wants it all her way."

Posting a snap of their cat looking grumpy, another posted: "[My cat's] face when Kelly Brook interrupts her husband for the eleventieth time."

"Kelly needs to adapt to being in a race, but it seems Jeremy is in race mode so hopefully she'll catch on quickly #RaceAcrossTheWorld," another shared.

"Omg Kelly Brooke isn’t quite understanding the point of #raceacrosstheworld," another argued.

However, others jumped to Brook's defence, with one adding: "Dunno what you are all moaning about. Kelly Brook seems harmless and really sweet actually and her and her husband came first in that stage anyway so being so miserable #raceacrosstheworld."

"Kelly Brook and her husband are absolutely hilarious #CelebrityRaceAcrossTheWorld," someone else commented.

Meanwhile, a teaser for the next episode shows Brook looking unhappy as her husband appears to attempt to save money. A clip shows her giving Jeremy a telling-off over the "cheap" room he'd found.

She went on to fume in the preview clip the decision had made her "miserable". She said: "You've got a lovely cheap room and you've got a miserable wife - so well done!"

In another part of the clip, she can be seen commenting: "This is going to be brutal!"

Speaking ahead of the series launch, Brook told the BBC: "I think Jeremy and I were looking for a new adventure to go on together and we love to travel.

"And this just seemed like the dream to get to the airport and not know where you're going. That is like a dream, to go to the airport, be given a plane ticket and just go."
