It followed the dramatic live episode which saw Martin Fowler dying in heartbreaking scenes

EastEnders' Ian Beale star Adam Woodyatt was reportedly fuming with fans on Thursday night as he left the celebratory drinks he and other cast members had attended following the 40th anniversary live episode.

Dramatic scenes saw the aftermath of the Queen Vic explosion, which led to the death of long-term character Martin Fowler (James Bye).

Soap stars flocked to a afterparty following the episode to enjoy a booze-fuelled celebration.

Several of the actors were spotted backstage enjoying a drink as they bid farewell to Bye, 40.

Reports state Woodyatt, 56, who has starred in the soap on and off since its debut in 1985, was later seen yelling at fans and telling them to "move out of the way," refusing to sign autographs.

According to The Mirror, the actor was quick to exit the car he and Kat Slater star Jessie Wallace had been sharing as he urged people on the road to make room.

Later, when a fan asked him for an autograph, Woodyatt reportedly fumed: "I'm not signing autographs, just get out of the way!"

Wallace is understood to have been shouting at her co-star to return to the car, but seemed in good spirits herself as she smiled at the crowd.

It came as Woodyatt reflected prior to the episode on a blunder that occurred during the soap's 2015 live instalment.

He recalled how Jo Joyner, who starred as Tanya Branning, had mistakenly asked Jane Beale (Laurie Brett): "How's Adam?" rather than using his character name, Ian.

"We all felt for Jo," Woodyatt admitted as he looked back on the incident from 10 years ago.

"You've got to think how she felt - that when ever anybody mentions the live now that's what gets mentioned. She can't escape from it."

Reflecting on the moment he found out about the incident, he continued: "We were all in different studios... And Jo's come in and she's... Shaken up.

"Really, really shaken up. And we're all sort of looking at her and going 'what's the matter? what's the matter?' And she just went 'You'll find out.'"

Meanwhile, Martin actor Bye also reflected emotionally on his character's death, commenting: "Saying goodbye is not easy, but after 10 years at EastEnders and on the night of the shows epic 40th anniversary – the time felt right.

"It's an honour to leave on a story of this magnitude. A huge thank you to all the fans of the show.

"EastEnders wouldn't be what it is without you – and to the BBC and EastEnders team for trusting me with this role for so many years. This fruit and veg man will always hold a special place in my heart. It's time to look forward, and I'm incredibly excited for what the future holds. RIP Martin Fowler."
