The Radio 1 DJ returned to airwaves following her suspension

DJ Arielle Free has returned to Radio 1 after she was suspended from the BBC over a bust up with co-host Charlie Hedges broadcast live from the Ibiza Rocks Hotel.

In a cameo that lasted less than a minute, Arielle, 36, was told to “have some respect” before being booted out the booth by Charlie, 37, with a parting glance of “get out of here!”

In promoting her return to the radio station on social media, Arielle did not address her suspension and instead turned attention to a more wholesome topic.

Arielle posted a throwback photo from her school days and a selfie with a BBC radio microphone, together with the caption: "Tonight on your radio its all things chilled in the run up to tomorrow's Scottish Highers, advanced highers and national 5's exam results.

“A time I remember all too well. The track selection tonight is designed to help take your mind away from how ever you may be feeling right now.

“So expect some soul soothers, mood boosters, and loads more yummies,"

"Two whole hours of one big musical hug. Plus here's a gift of the only high school picture my mum ever bought because I somehow mastered having terrible ones done every other year. Cheers."

BBC’s trouble in paradise started when a worse for wear Arielle conceded sounding ropey after stepping up to the microphone for the Saturday Dance Anthems show on July 29.

Appearing as a guest, a slurring Arielle said: “Hi, yeah, I sound great don’t I?”

The show’s host, Charlie, quipped: “You’ve sounded better, but it’s ok.”

Not taking kindly to the comment, Arielle turned the scrutiny on her colleague: “Can I be honest with you Charlie? I expected better of you. I don’t like this song.”

As Arielle continued to express her distaste for Charlie’s choice of Stream MCR-T & horsegiirL’s My Barn, My Rules, the host pulled the plug on the guest appearance.

Charlie said: “Sorry I’m taking your mic down, it’s my show Arielle, have some respect please.

“See you later. Get out of here.”

The pair, who performed together at the Women’s FA Cup Final in May, are said to have been friends before the testing on air exchange.

A spokesperson for the BBC said: "Whilst we would not comment on individual matters, we have strict codes of behaviour for staff and presenters, and any breaches are taken extremely seriously."

Arielle was replaced last week by Sian Eleri, missing out on her usual Monday to Wednesday two hour slot.
