The star’s arrival was met with mixed reviews despite his extensive antiques background

Bargain Hunt star Danny Sebastian made his eagerly anticipated debut on Antiques Road Trip on Monday afternoon, joining forces with expert Irita Marriott.

The pair set off on a journey through Kent in search of valuable antiques to sell at auction which aired at 3.45pm on BBC One.

His show debut saw the pair go head-to-head as they battled it out to scour the region for hidden treasures.

Ahead of the broadcast, Sebastian took to social media to share his excitement, writing: "The time has come!! 3.45pm TODAY ON @bbcone MY DEBUT ON @antiqueroadtrip WITH @iritamarriottantiques.

“Had a lot of fun and bought some good bits too - hope you all enjoy the show.”

“Veteran @IritaMarriott takes @MrSebDaniel under her wing for his much anticipated Road Trip debut! You can't miss this one! 3.45PM on @BBCOne.”

The new presenter's arrival was met with a divided reaction from long-term fans of the show, as one excited viewer penned: “What a fabulous pairing!!!!!!!! Sorry gonna watch the lot in two days! So excited.”

“Love Danny. He’s a star,” another agreed before a third said: “Great show until it gets to the auction. No need for shouting at the bidders.”

Sebastian and Marriott will return to screens tomorrow as their antiques hunt continues in the West Country for the second round of their best-of-five contest.

The upcoming episode will see the pair explore Nailsea, where they'll learn about Somerset heroine Hannah More and her role in bringing education to the masses.

Both experts are set to make bold purchases in their quest for auction success.

Marriott will take a chance on some vintage glasses, while Sebastian opts for an unusually large railway platform bench.

The competitive spirit remains high as Sebastian aims for victory while Marriott defends her position.

Sebastian previously appeared on several antiques-focused shows after his career began with BBC's Del Boys and Dealers and Dealing with Dickinson, before expanding to include appearances on Junk Rescue and Street Auction.

The self-taught antiques expert describes his entry into the trade as "fate,” and previously told the BBC: “I was at an auction down south and stumbled across a room that was being prepared for a Mid-20th Century sale and all that I saw I just loved.

"Straight away I thought 'I'm getting into this game; I'd love to sell this tackle'."
