The nominations for the 2025 ceremony were announced on Wednesday
Cinemagoers have been left divided over a number of “ludicrous” snubs ahead of this year’s Bafta awards.
The hotly anticipated ceremony will be held on the February 16 and be hosted by David Tennant.
Papal thriller Conclave led the pack with the most nominations, seeing nods for Best Film, Outstanding British Film and Best Actor for star Ralph Fiennes.
Direction Edward Berger, who was also nominated, saw his picture receive a huge 12 nominations in total.
Close behind was Spanish-language musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez, including a Best Actress nod for trans star Karla Sofía Gascón.
Both films were also nominated for Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director.

Other films seeing success ahead of the awards ceremony were The Brutalist with nine, Anora, Dune: Part Two and Wicked with seven and A Complete Unknown and Kneecap with six.
Acclaimed 2024 horror movies Nosferatu and The Substance also came away with five nominations.
The Substance star Demi Moore, following her emotional Golden Globes victory speech, received a nod for Best Actress.
However, movie fans were in uproar over the perceived snub of her co-star Margaret Qualley – who did not receive any Bafta nominations.

“Margaret qualley started off so strong getting the golden globe nom, critics' choice nom and winning the most regional awards (currently). why did sag and bafta both snub her now. If selena or jamie lee get the oscar nom over her, i'mgonna cry,” one reacted in outrage on X.
Fans particularly took issue with veteran actress Jamie Lee Curtis receiving a Best Supporting nomination over Qualley for The Last Showgirl.
Another slammed: “Jamie lee curtis taking out margaretqualley at the baftas… I cannot do this anymore.”
“Jamie Lee Curtis over Margaret Qualley? This is so wrong,” a third wrote.
Elsewhere, Daniel Craig missed out on a nomination for his starring role in Queer, which he had been chaotically promoting with co-star Drew Starkey.
The film follows Craig’s character as he becomes infatuated with a younger man in 1950s Mexico City and fans were quick to decry the lack of laurels potential for the former James Bond.
“Are you kidding me @BAFTA no nominations for 'Queer' or Daniel Craig . What a terrible snub and omission. Shame on you and your voting members / selection process. Seems the subject matter not to your taste...” one fan claimed.
Another wrote: “I know queer is pretty strange but no daniel craig at bafta of all places seems f****** insane to me.”
“I had a feeling bafta would snub Daniel Craig. Omg,” a third raged.
Actor Denzel Washington was once again left without a Bafta nomination for his role in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II.

The Hollywood legend has still yet to receive a single nomination for the British awards in his long career and fans were quick to share their thoughts.
“How have BAFTA still never nominated Denzel Washington?? Also Monica Barbaro not nominated, Margaret Qualley not nominated… but again with Jamie Lee Curtis for an average performance in and movie? Sort your s*** out BAFTA,” one raged.
Another wrote: “Denzel once again got snubbed by BAFTA. No BAFTA nomination for his entire career is ludicrous." (sic)
Despite the backlash, Bafta executives were glowing about the nominations ahead of the February awards ceremony.
Chair of Bafta Film Committee Anna Higgs said the nods showcased the "very best in creative talent working in filmmaking today in Britain and globally" and added she was "delighted that 14 of the 24 nominees in the performance categories are receiving their first BAFTA film nomination and that 12 of the nominated films are directed by women."
