The Strictly Come Dancing star underwent a third round of chemotherapy last week

Strictly dancer Amy Dowden has regularly shared candid updates as she undergoes treatment following her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

In an attempt to raise awareness, the 33-year-old has been praised and branded an "inspiration" for her candor and upbeat updates since receiving the news in May.

On Tuesday, after a weekend of staying off social media, Dowden provided another update to her Instagram followers.

And this time, Dowden tried to see the brighter side of things as she thanked fans for their messages of support while celebrating a "win-win" less than a week after undergoing chemo for a third time.

"Hello everyone, thank you so much for all the messages," Dowden began. "Sorry, I've been a little silent on you over the weekend.

"I just wanted to fully recover after chemo on Thursday - and definitely getting there. I had a little bit of sickness on Thursday and Friday."

Explaining further, she added: "Tiredness but you can't sleep because of the steroids - got my steroid moon face which I'm used to anyway by now.

"But definitely feeling more like Amy today," the Welsh dancer added as she smiled.

However, Dowden then delved further into the negative impact the treatment has had on her as she explained: "Mouth covered in ulcers so quite swollen but you know...

"Losing the hair still and just you can't sleep because of the steroids but you're so tired.

"So those are some of the symptoms I've got," she added before she turned her attention to the more positive aspects: "But I've not ended up in hospital so far after this admission so that's a win-win!

"And I was told by my fellow pink sisters that usually after the third EC, the chemo you have, is when you start to lose your eyelashes and eyebrows and so far, I've still got them," Dowden said as she moved the camera to show her brows.

She continued: "Obviously I could still lose them and I've still got another EC to go before then I go onto a different type of chemo...

"But the sun is shining, I've got my twin sister with me, and a lovely day planned.

"You've just got to make the most of the good days, haven't you?"

Dowden concluded by once more thanking her followers for the number of "lovely" messages of support sent her way.

"I read every single one of them, online, personally, you name it, I just sometimes don't have the energy to be able to reply.

"But honestly they're not taken for granted and they help so much."

Dowden signed off by revealing she was heading on a "little walk" to enjoy the scorching temperatures currently hitting the country.

The dancer announced publicly in May that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and later revealed that she had undergone a mastectomy and that doctors had discovered "another type of cancer".
