Amber Davies has been comfortably sitting at the top of the leaderboard for the last couple of weeks

Amber Davies has been said to have an “unfair advantage” due to her physical figure and dance background, according to an expert.

Davies trained at Urdang Academy in London earning her Professional Diploma in Musical Theatre graduating in 2016.

She has gone on to star as Judy in the Original West End cast of 9 to 5 the Musical at the Savoy Theatre and Back to the Future at the Adelphi Theatre in London.

Davies is now the leading lady in Pretty Woman: The Musical which is on tour in the UK and Ireland, previously revealing it was her dream role.

Shortly after it was revealed she would be signing up to Dancing on Ice, many fans of the show had an issue due to her training background.

However, dance expert Dr Jill Rose Jacobs has claimed that it isn’t her background training that has given her the unfair advantage, but her petite physique.

Dr Jacobs has a wealth of experience in lecturing on the study dance and has provided her dance expertise and commentary to a number of leading media titles in the past.

When questioned on whether Davies had an unfair advantage, Jacobs told GB News on behalf of Heart Bingo: “Yes. But so did other people in the competition and other people in the competition are athletes.

“Winning these competitions, you are talking about fitness and arts. So the winner has to have those two but they have to have luck, a good strategy and they have to have a media perception.

“If you think about figure skaters and their body types, it is Amber's. So, she has everything in line to win this. You have other contestants who were musical theatre and performing, what they didn’t have is physical fitness.

“Had they had the fitness they had on Broadway, Greg [Rutherford] was not in shape when he started this competition, he was okay but if you look at his core, he wasn’t that strong.

“His body is remembering when he was in shape for him. Amber right now is in shape for her and other people who have a musical background, they didn’t do well but they weren’t in shape for that moment.

“For some reason, they didn’t push into shape in time, mind, body, and coordination, that is what I am talking about.”

Last week, Davies and her partner Simon Proulx-Senecal performed to Revolting Children from Matilda during Musicals Week.

The former Love Island star became the first contestant to perform the risky headbanger move in this series – resulting in a score of 35.5 for her performance.

Overwhelmed but the love and support she had throughout the week because of the dangerous move, she told Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern: “Thank you!

“I had a mentally tough week this week and I was terrified to come out here, so thank you so much!”

Due to the potential danger, the move is actually banned by the International Skating Union (ISU), which governs competitive skating.
