Amanda Owen has shared a glimpse into her family's rural life on Ravenseat Farm in Yorkshire through recent social media posts, showing off the sun-soaked pictures of her children observing wildlife in a pond as spring arrives.
She explained how these natural experiences are teaching important life lessons to her nine children: Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine and Nancy.
"Spring appears to have sprung," she wrote. "The children have been absorbed in watching the frogspawn hatch and seeing the tadpoles and froglets."
She hoped these moments were "nurturing the ability to be resilient and strong without losing any gentleness and wonderment."
The Yorkshire shepherdess ensures her followers see the reality of rural life, not just idyllic moments, including the recent power outage at their home.
Sharing the experience on Instagram with a collage of pictures, three of her children were pictured cuddling on a leather sofa near a roaring log fire, which provided the only heat and light in their home apart from a few candles.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
Despite the inconvenience, Amanda maintained her characteristic laid-back attitude, simply captioning the post: "No power. No problem."
The family recently moved into their renovated home, Anty John's, located close to Ravenseat Farm, purchasing the derelict cottage in Swaledale for a guide price of £180,000 at auction in 2020.
The property, named after former owner Anthony John Clarkson, required extensive restoration from a ruin with a caved-in roof which was able to be witnessed by Channel 5 viewers through their series Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.
The project faced numerous challenges, including poor weather conditions that slowed progress, with husband Clive Owen expressing his frustration at times, saying: "It's going so slowly at the moment. We come back and it's like, 'What's been done? A few more slate (roof tiles).'"
The couple have continued to co-parent their children despite their split being made public in 2022 and chose to live near one another after their separation, prioritising family stability.
Getting electricity for the first time at Anty John's was a significant milestone for the family, with Amanda describing it as a visual sign to neighbours that they were "getting on" with the build.
She has previously spoken about feeling "pressure" to complete the renovation project and despite the challenges of rural farm life, both parents remain committed to raising children who understand the value of hard work and connection to nature.
Despite having children of varying ages, Amanda admitted they all "gravitate" home and previously told Lorraine Kelly: "We had nine of them, only one has actually left home. It seems like they gravitate back."
She joked: "In an ideal world, I'd have one child in a hot country at all times so I could move around and get past some of this cold Yorkshire weather for a while."
Owen believes the rural upbringing provides essential foundations for her children's futures.
"When you've been brought up here, it's in you, it's life lessons, it gives you a real grounding a sense of purpose," she explained.
Both Amanda and Clive view their renovations as "futureproofing" for their children, with son Reuben already showing interest in farming through his show "Reuben: Life In The Dales."
