The BGT judge and husband Chris Hughes stopped for a loved-up selfie recently

Amanda Holden has sparked a flurry of comments after sharing a rare selfie with her husband Chris Hughes on Instagram, with several fans distracted by her other half's youthful appearance.

The Britain's Got Talent judge, 54, posted the loved-up snap showing the couple on a family date night, prompting an outpouring of shocked reactions about how young her 51-year-old husband looks.

Even former BGT co-star David Walliams couldn't resist joining in, leaving a cheeky comment that garnered hundreds of likes.

The music producer, who rarely appears on Holden's social media, was described by fans as looking "about 28" and "like a very very young handsome man".

In the Instagram post, Holden captioned the image: "Date night (except the girls are with us [laughing emoji]) so... Date night with the girls #family," followed by a series of love heart emojis.

Fans immediately flooded the comments section, expressing disbelief at Hughes's age-defying appearance

"Beautiful couple you both look so young," wrote one follower while another commented: "He totally does NOT look his age.. I forget how old he is but he's older than her."

Holden quickly corrected this misconception, replying: "He's younger than me! 52 this year x."

Other fans remarked: "How does he look 20??" and "Your hubby looks about 19!"

Walliams' comment on the photo stood out among the hundreds of reactions, as he quipped: "Mother and son. Lovely."

The joke, which referenced the couple's youthful appearance gap, quickly attracted hundreds of likes from amused followers.

Holden took the jibe in good spirits, responding to her former Britain's Got Talent co-star with a laughing emoji.

This isn't the first time Walliams has made such a joke. Last year, when Hughes appeared in a holiday photo with Holden, he made the same "mother and son" comment.

On that occasion, Hughes had jokingly captioned his rare social media appearance with: "Finally made it onto the grid #reluctantly."

Holden and Hughes first met in Los Angeles in 2003, before beginning their romance the following year.

The couple tied the knot in 2008, with their daughter Alexa, who was just two years old at the time, present at their wedding.

They later welcomed their second daughter, Hollie, in 2012, following a traumatic birth that Holden recently revealed nearly cost her her life.

During an episode of Amanda & Alan's Spanish Job, she shared that she had "died" after giving birth and ended up in a coma.

Hughes is Holden's second husband, following her previous marriage to Family Fortunes host Les Dennis from 1995 to 2003.

Speaking about her marriage in a previous interview with Hello magazine, Holden shared: "Chris is very funny and errs on the side of lightness. We can make jokes out of any situation throughout the best and darkest times of our lives."

She added: "He's rubbish at romance, but he's there for the solid things - such as keeping my car clean and making sure I relax."

The Britain's Got Talent judge also described her husband as "a proper bloke who looks after me."

"I'm a strong, opinionated woman, but he helps steer the Mandy ship," she explained.

Earlier last month, Holden revealed that she and Hughes try to spend time together despite leading "separate lives".

She shared that Hughes had surprised her by signing them up for badminton.

"We just got into the swing of it and we absolutely loved it," Holden said of their first game. The couple played for "a good solid hour" according to the radio presenter.

"He won 21-15 but I thought that wasn't bad for me," she added.

The family of four regularly spends time together, with their recent date night including both daughters, Alexa, 18, and Hollie, 12.
