The actress hasn't appeared in any live TV since October when she was taking part in Strictly Come Dancing

Amanda Abbington is reportedly set to divulge for the first time details of her experience on Strictly Come Dancing, which subsequently opened a can of worms for the BBC show.

Sherlock actress Abbington, 52, quit mid-way through Strictly Come Dancing last year and later claimed her professional partner, Giovanni Pernice, had been "abusive" towards her, sparking a huge BBC probe.

Abbington also stated she was diagnosed with PTSD following her stint on the show, and it was confirmed earlier this year Pernice wouldn't be taking part in the next series of Strictly.

More recently, it was confirmed Graziano Di Prima was axed from the show after the internal investigation found concerning behaviour from the 30-year-old towards his dance partner from last year, Zara McDermott, 27.

He admitted to "kicking" the former Love Island star, who also broke her silence with a lengthy statement about her experience.

While Abbington hasn't made any televised appearances since her Strictly appearance, even going as far as to remove herself from social media in light of Pernice's sacking, she is set to "break her silence" on the scandal.

Abbington is ending her TV hiatus next week and will appear on screens in an interview on ITV's Lorraine.

She will be interviewed by stand-in host Christine Lampard while Lorraine Kelly enjoys a break from hosting for the summer.

Set to air on Thursday, the Daily Mail reports the interview will centre around her upcoming play, but that she will also open up about the Strictly controversy.

Speaking to the publication, a source said: "Amanda will be on Lorraine next week. She has been booked to promote her upcoming play When It Happens To You but obviously, with everything that's been happening, Christine will be asking Amanda how she is amid the scandal.

"Given the BBC investigation is ongoing, the show will have to abide by those restrictions.

"It's the first time Amanda has returned to live television since she quit Strictly, everyone is looking forward to her appearance because who knows what she might say."

The actress hasn't been on any live TV since October when she decided to pull out of the competition.

The fall-out of her complaints against the show is ongoing, with updates as recently as this week confirming the scandal is far from over.

On Friday, McDermott hit back at Di Prima after he alleged the behaviour was in relation to "a singular incident," which the reality star has claimed is untrue.

Earlier this week, James Jordan was forced to issue a lengthy statement of defence after historic footage of himself on the show sparked a backlash.

The BBC has declined to comment on the saga, citing that it never comments on "individual cases".

However, a BBC spokesperson confirmed that Di Prima was "no longer a part of the line-up of professional dancers for the upcoming series".

They also added: "While we would never comment on individual cases, it is well-known that the BBC has established a robust duty of care procedures, and if issues are raised we will always take them seriously and act swiftly as appropriate."

ITV declined to comment when approached by GB News.
