All Creatures Great and Small star Rachel Shenton gave fans an unexpected sneak peek inside filming for season five on her Instagram account today.
Shenton - who plays Helen Herriot - filmed a clip of herself and Imogen Clawson – who plays Jenny Alderson – outside in the Yorkshire Dales filming for the new series.
She captioned the video “season 5” which left fans to go into a frenzy and begin to get excited about what storylines they can expect from the new season.
The update comes after the heartfelt Christmas Special in 2023 where James Herriot (played by Nicholas Ralph) missed the birthday of his son – James.
Whilst being stuck at his RAF base, he rushed back to be with his wife and thought he had made it in the nick of time.
However, his farmer wife soon turned around and presented him with their son, going through her birth with Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley), Siegfried Farnon (Samuel West) and Richard Carmody (James Anthony-Rose) by her side.

The upcoming series is set to “bring the stories of James Herriot to life as we return to Darrowby to rejoin our unconventional much loved Skeldale family and the colourful ensemble of farmer, animals and townsfolk living in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1940’s,” according to Channel 5.
Further plot details are yet to be released but James is more than likely to be returning to the RAF base in the new episodes.
New images have also shown Helen Herriot pushing around a stroller as she gets used to her new life as a mum, without James by her side.
After announcing the news, executive producer and CEO of Playground Sir Colin Callender said: “Kindness and decency are increasingly rare qualities these days.
